I found this quite interesting> http://www.fool.co.uk/news/retirement-pensions/2007/06/11/you-can-retire-on-less-than-you-think.aspx?source=ioowftxt0010011

I have an income of around £10K per year and I can manage very well on that and have a holiday when I want . I am not rich, but I do own my own house outright so I suppose that is a help as I have no mortgage .I live alone as I am widowed and feel that I have more than enough to live on.I live within my means and owe no one a penny .I don't believe in credit and think that if I can't buy it for cash then I can't afford it I think I am of the 'old school'in my outlook. I would hate to be in debt as it would worry me too much. I remember the debt-collectors and 'tally' men when I was a little girl in the 1940s & 50s0

I heard a good one liner yesterday "Out of debt is out of danger""A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
