Barclaycard

Hi
Wondered if any of you could please give me some advice...
My OH has a complaint for PPI with Barclaycard. He called them in July to start the ball rolling...
Last week he called them to see what was happening as he hasn't had any kind of paperwork from them at all (i.e an acknowledgement to say that they are even looking into his claim) they wouldn't discuss his case with him as he didn't know the reference number. How would he? - They said he had to go into a local branch with id to prove who he was and then they would issue him with a reference number? never heard of this before. They said a letter had previously been sent? - Anyway, my OH did this and got the reference number. The person then confirmed that a letter had already been sent previously and that when he called the previous day another letter was generated. This letter has never materialised. They won't say what the letter says either. They just say to follow the instructions on the letter. What does that even mean?! It's very frustrating. I've had a claim upheld recently with Lloyds and whenever I called them they were always happy to look on the system and give me an update. Why are Barclaycard so secretive? Why employ so many staff if they can't even give any information out over the phone? Grrrr
Anyone else experienced anything similar with Barclaycard?

Just wait for the letter. Phoning them will just prove frustrating. Do make sure they have your correct address details, however.0

I have written to Barclaycard re PPI twice (both with recorded delivery) in May and July.
I have received no reply and wonder how to take this further .
My Barclays Bank will offer no help whatsover.0 -

Confirming the address was the first thing my OH did. They have our correct address. There is only so long you can wait for a letter which never arrives. I feel it is just delay tactics and don't understand why they can't confirm over the phone what it says? Strange.0 -

I think you may just have been unlucky with the original letter, it's definitely not some deliberate "tactic".0 -
Still no sign of the letter.....
Very frustrating.
Anyone else had similar dealings with Barclaycard? We have no idea whether the letter is a rejection, an offer, or even a letter asking for more information. Grrrr0 -
Hello thunders79:)
I had a 2nd claim upheld by Barclays after receipt of a time bar letter in August.
It was finalised on 3 Sept and funds paid into my account on 4 Sept, to date I have not received the letter. I have rung twice and been told it takes 7-10 days for the letter to be actioned/received
I rang again yesterday and again they said 7-10 days, when I pointed out it had now been 17days the person looked at my account and for some reason though it appeared the letter had been sent something hadn't been actioned so they have resent it.
Maybe another call and you may get someone look more closely, good luck
Also they will not read the letter to me, I am a Barclays customer stillBOS - 2 x Loan PPI 14/11/09upheld 5505.62 + 591.72 Barclays - 31/03 Loan PPI & Overdraft PPI Upheld £28000

Still no letter so my OH just called Barclaycard. They said there was a problem on their systems where the postcode was wrong so they sent another on Friday (yeah right!)
Anyway, they actually confirmed that it was a rejection letter. Not at all happy as he cancelled it in 2007 when he noticed he was paying for it and didn't opt for it. They have a log of this (they told him that previously).
The guy said he was rejected in 2007 and it's a copy of that letter which they have sent again? The strange thing is, he didn't make a claim for PPI in 2007?? They say he has to wait for the letter (again!) and then write to them asking them to reopen the claim. What a complete waste of 10 weeks. Surely someone could have told him this previously?
Do you think he should write back to them or go straight to the Ombudsman?0 -
If you go to the FOS do you have to wait until you have a copy of the rejection letter? do they ask you to provide a copy of it?
Still not sure whether to ask Barclaycard to look into our complaint again or go straight to the FOS?0 -
If you ask them to look into your complaint again, they can take as long as they like and after one rejection letter the 6 months you have to go to the FOS starts ticking away.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
