  • Hi Gang...

Not much to report on the money saving front as it's my BIRTHDAY!! Wooohooo!!

:) Did however, take home-made cakes into work for the van and spent a day diving in the sunshine whilst getting paid - got to be some perks eh?! :)

:j Despite the "no presents" rule - OH kindly bought me the Lonely Planet guidebooks for Thailand, Cambodia and Laos from my Amazon wishlist - so shan't have to buy those before our Christmas holiday! :) Another win!

:T Also had a VERY generous cheque from my darling Paps, which will go a long way to the holiday fund and treating myself to some holiday clothes... Very lucky girl today!!

We've decided against going out for dinner tonight, OH is making my favourite spinach and ricotta cannelloni instead :p mmmmmm...
It is DBIL's birthday next Friday, so will make it a joint celebration when we go out in Bath for a meal with the family.

Hope everyone is having a great day!! Lots of MSE love xxx

Damn....I just went through the coupons in my purse & realised my £6 off a £40 shop voucher expired yesterday :( Anyone know if Sainsburys are likely to let me use it anyway?

They won't usually honour them. (Link) However, ask them to honour it as a gesture of goodwill. If they won't honour it call Sainsbury's Customer Service on 0800 636 262 and tell them you're a loyal customer and really disappointed. No harm in trying!

  • Hi everyone,

I've been AWOL the last couple of days, still lurking but find it so hard to get time to post on here during the week. I had a meeting this morning and I am working from home this afternoon though :j

    Today I have/will:

    - B/L/D from stores. Dinner is going to be something quick and easy, i'm thinking Ravioli on toast...
    - Put petrol in the car to travel to meeting but I will re-claim this at work tomorrow
    - Go to a free class at the gym later
    - Try and keep the heating off....
    - Put a load of washing in
    - Tidy up the kitchen and bathroom

That's my lot. Hope you all have a good day!

    PP xx

Ally- your foraging sounds fun..i might look into this :)

We do a lot of foraging.

This time of year you might find blackberries, raspberries, damsons, mushrooms (with care) and nuts as well as seaweeds and shellfish on the seashore. I'd recommend borrowing a book on foraging from the library like those by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall or going to sites like Nature's Secret Larder (Link)

If you try anything new be sure to identify it carefully and keep a little bit of it in a tupperware box in the fridge for identification in case it doesn't agree with you and you need to head to a doctor! There are some wild foods that can be tolerated by some individuals and not others.

I find it hard to post during the week as well :(

    But today I have:

taken packed lunch to work - leftover HM spinach and feta pie (I can't spell the proper Greek name for it :o) and salad bits

revitalised ancient mobile phone which had a broken battery cover and won out battery. For the princely sum of £5.44 I replaced both from ebay, and my old phone is as good as it was when it was new :D I worked in tech research for several years, and therefore am not bothered about shiny new phones and things; been there, done that etc. Don't need an iphone 5 :rotfl:

    Washing dried on line

Used HG tomatoes and basil to make pasta for supper :)

That is it, apart from work. Doesn't sound much, but work takes most of my energy these days :(
