When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. .
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

It's Wednesday. Happy Hump Day! And it's still raining here, really pleased we live on a hill!
The List:
:staradmin Check online banking. Done.
:staradmin Read paper online. Done.
:staradmin Enter ten Facebook competitions. Done.
:staradmin Plan a few more ultra-frugal things for Christmas and Hannukah. OH is writing the food list.
:staradmin Listen to more free "Infinite Monkey Cage" podcasts from Radio 4. The last, with Brian Blessed, "Space Tourism" really made me laugh. (List) Done.
:staradmin Repair split in sole of trainers with superglue. Worse than I though. Beyond repair.
Located my second pair which only require a small repair. Put in new odour eaters and laces.
:staradmin Go foraging. Done. Got a pound of brambles/blackberries. OH is going to make Delia's Quick Bramble Jelly using only things we have in stores and jars she's been squirreling away for months. (Link)
:staradmin Backup my Finances Spreadsheet and other crucial data. Done.
:staradmin Decided to stop visiting one of the sites I've been going to each day. Using up more energy than I'm getting back. Will close the account.
:staradmin Job-seeking.
:staradmin Watching latest "StarTrek Into Darkness" film tonight on Blinkbox using the last of my "deposit £1 get £6 credit" special offer.
:staradmin OH went to library yesterday and council were giving out free bin liners for mini kitchen waste bins. As we compost our waste these will do nicely for other household bins. (Returned library book on time.)
:staradmin Check mobile bill. Website not working, new App not downloadable, telephone line says there is currently an issue. Sigh...Finally got through bill will be less than I expected. Yay!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for starting us off Ally.
Hope you feel better soon DNMS.
Today's plan:-
- Making use of free water at work
- Food from stores, leftovers for lunch - made such a huge batch of chilli last night that it's done 2 huge dinner portions last night, 2 normal portions for another night, & 2 generous lunch portions! Very pleased with that.
- Dinner from meal plan - Fajita style chicken with veg
- Staying in for my lunch break to avoid spending
- Log calories & exercise on free apps
- Checked birthday bingo
- Check online banking
- Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
- Enter some comps
- Do some surveys
- Declutter & flylady
- DH hopefully doing some overtime today
- Heating off, fleecey dressing gowns on instead
- Work on CV for possible temp promotion - must finish this tonight
- Today is day 3 of the 30 days challenge - rest day so no leccy used there at all

- Check how much shopping will cost using mysupermarket, hope it comes in under budget as I have just over £40 to last the rest of the month
- Go to Sainsbugs straight after work to save on petrol costs & time, use vouchers where possible & will use prepaid card (5% discount), also bringing our own bags for extra points & to be environmentally friendly

Damn....I just went through the coupons in my purse & realised my £6 off a £40 shop voucher expired yesterday
Anyone know if Sainsburys are likely to let me use it anyway? I'm surprised they're only valid for a week, Tesco's used to be valid for at least 2 weeks I'm sure. :idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57
