US Airways ON Line check in question

Off to a family wedding in the states which requires 2 flights each way.
Looking at the US Airways website, it has our reservations correct, but it is not possible to check in on line until the day before.

This is fine on the way there, but does this apply for the flight home ? I wasn't wanting to take a computer, and I don't really want to be using an internet cafe.

Yes, it applies both ways. Online check-in starts 24 hrs prior to flight departure. It is not compulsory - however if you do it it helps airline with thier flight preparation too.

If you do not have access to your computer you could try phone local US airways and try to check-in via telephone.

I would really be surprised if you can check in by phone these days.

Many hotels will offer the service of checking in and issuing boarding passes.

Or if it's a family wedding, could you not pop around to someone's house and use their PC for a minute?

They appear to have an app as well if you have a smartphone - maybe that would be an option (I don't know if there are any restrictions on who can use it, etc)...and I don't know what sort of data charges would be involved, but it's an option.

Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • We have flown with them a few times. We do online check in on the way out, and regular check in at the airport coming back. You don't have to check in online, it's just an option.
  • I was able to check in and select seats from my sister's laptop, the day before our return, which was great,

except that it was pointless, as our flight from Dayton to Philidephia was delayed by 2 hours, so we missed the connection to Manchester, but had just enough time (45 mins) to get a connection to Heathrow, and the 2 hours to get from terminal 1 to terminal 5 for a BA flight to Manchester. Us airways paid BA the full fare, so we got fast track at terminal 5, which gave us access to the executive lounge. Without fast track we would have missed that flight too. All well and good. We didn't have time to use it, other than use the loo, before getting on the plane, which was delayed as BA were waiting for some of thier connecting flights to come in. So Eventually got home about 6 hours later than expected. Nothing. Ever. Runs. to. Schedule.

Amazed that our bags arrived though. That was impressive.

Good to see when things went wrong that US Air did the right thing and didn't tell you to wait 24 hour for the next US Air flight

When we were waiting to be told of our fate in Dayton Airport, I used the Public Airport Wifi, to find all the alternatives to get us to manchester on the right day, including flights, to other US airports, then to any North European Destination, and then to manchester, and without prompting, they picked the option I would have picked (and my wife would have demanded) had they Offered to put us in a Hotel.

I was Particularly highly impressed with lone cabin lady on the Dayton to Phili flight, who got the 9 people with short connections, off the plane first, and insisted that everyone else had plenty of time, and should sit down otherwise she would "not be happy". We were numbers 8 and 9.

The only gripe is that I asked them if I could use a phone to contact the taxi firm in the UK, and they handed me a phone that would only dial the US, and looked at me like I was an idiot when I pointed that out. Luckily because we were staying with family, I got my sister to phone them. The gripe ? The look she gave me, which would have killed a lesser man, but no worse that my wife gave her back :rotfl::T
