Clue:
This is a land where castles seem to sprout magically from the baked earth. Climb the turrets here and you'll look out over a fantastical terrain of sheer, striated rockfaces and scarred, scrabbly plateaus. This contorted geology marks the meeting point of two mountain ranges, both part of a larger chain that spans the north-west corner of a continent.
The massifs are held apart, like opposing armies in an uneasy stand-off, by a river running through a spectacular gorge - this country's answer to the Grand Canyon. And reflecting the fact that the territory straddling the river has indeed been a place of conflict over the centuries, the edge of the chasm is jagged with the battlements of fortresses and watchtowers.
The building in the picture is in a hilltop town that serves as a gateway to the gorge. A four-wheel-drive will get you to the wilder reaches, but even the parts you can access in a standard hire car look like The Land That Time Forgot. Either way, pull over frequently to gape at the view, because round here it's a real battle to keep your eyes on the road. Where are you?

2. Each month's entry must arrive no later than the last day of the month on that issue's cover. Cond! Nast Traveller is not responsible for late, lost or damaged mail or e-mail. Illegible or mechanically reproduced entries are not eligible. Entries by text message are not eligible.
3. Only one correct answer will be registered per entrant per month. Each registered correct answer is eligible for the Grand Prize draw. 4. One Grand Prize winner of the current Where Are You? competition will be chosen, by 1 October 2013, in a random draw of qualified entries that have correctly identified locations in the competitions published in issues dated between October 2012 and September 2013. The winner will be notified within 14 days of the draw. If the winner cannot be contacted within 30 days, an alternative winner may be chosen. All decisions by the Editor are final.
5. The competition prize is not transferable. No substitutions for the prize will be allowed. Travel insurance is not included.
6. The Where Are You? competition is open to readers of Cond! Nast Traveller who are 18 or older on the date of entry, except for employees of Cond! Nast Publications, participating promotional agencies, contributors to Cond! Nast Traveller, and the families of any of the above.
7. All entries to the Where Are You? competition become the sole property of Cond! Nast Traveller and will neither be acknowledged nor returned.
8. Acceptance of the prize constitutes consent for the use of the winner's name and likeness and those of his/her travelling companion for editorial, advertising and publicity purposes.

Make sure you have a spare £2000 to pay for your drinks & food - Maldives is soooooooooooo expensive

IE - it cost us $8 (£5) for a coke and $90 (£56) EACH for a meal 10 years ago
