Morning all, the clouds are clearing a bit down here so a bit brighter.
Doing gingered beef in Sc tonight for some friends and they are bringing dessert, they are Italian and do scrummy food so can't wait!
Very excited here as our family are booking their flights today, coming from oz for a late Xmas, they will save 3000 dollars by flying out Boxing Day so we will have Xmas when they arrive, hope our 3 year old GD don't think there will be two Christmases every year, althiugh nOthing wring with that. Am starting to put away a few bits of extra food in another cupboard, apart from the store cupboard for their visit to spread the cost and will bake up a storm later on.
Hugs to,those who need them, some of us have huge problems in our lives at present. XxCarolbee0 -
Morning all.
The sky is black and grey, and it looks horrible out, at least the wind has died down a bit. Have a serious CBA feel going on today, just as well there's nothing major I need to do.
Need to have a rummage in the freezer and see if I need to buy anything for DD to eat while I'm away, and find something for dinner. Will finish packing today, then all I need to do holiday wise is collect my English banknotes at the bank on Friday. Its very strange getting ready for a holiday on my own, especially when I can't do the shopping without putting in some of OH's favourites!
Right, better get organised, not even dressed yet! Have a good day all!
Molly, glad your dad is on the mend, how are you doing?RIP Iain

Morning all, hope today finds you all well.
Weather is definately better today that the past few. Dare I say it we have a little bit of sun. Wasn't as chilly when walking the dogs this morning.
Not to much going on today, have washed dd bedding and that is on the line and ds2 bedding is in the machine now. Hoping it will dry on the line , otherwise onto the airer it will go. Dinner will be cottage pie with green beans. Ds2 has a shift at the local chippy tonight so he will be having tea there , he will prob take his cottage pie into school tomorrow and heat in up in the 6th form kitchen. If not I may well have it for lunch tomorrow.
Have bought a white metal daybed frame from a facebook selling group , the seller is dropping it off tomorrow evening for me as I dont drive. My daughter has been on about wanting one for ages as when she goes to stay with her aunt and uncle from her dads side they have one and she sleeps in it., So that should keep her happy.Only costing me £15 so happy with that. She will be having her mattress on it.
Housework to do throughout the day. Not alot but if I dont keep ontop of it it will end up looking like a pigsty. Have done downstairs , just the bathroom and hoovering to do upstairs, so best get my b um in gear and get a move on.
Hope you all have a lovely afternoon0 -
Good morning everyone. With three visitors departing this morning, I feel I am only just really starting with my changed lifestyle. I am on gardening leave but redundancy looms (one can only delay the process for so long without risking the ex gratia payment being withdrawn;)).
The aim is to take a short break from work and be a SAHM for the first time since my first child was born almost twelve years ago. The further I can make the money stretch, the longer I can stave off having to go to work and the less likely I am to send myself hurtling back towards an early grave.
I have done some preparation for the new lifestyle. There is a free second hand freezer in the garage waiting to be filled with batch cooked foods and any really good offers; I have been using grocery vouchers (instead of losing them and only finding them once they have expired); I have taken a preliminary bag of clothes to 'cash for clothes' and, having found it works, have several more bags ready to go; I filled the car only half full and found that my fuel consumption has dropped dramatically (something I learned from this forum); I have a list of freebies/good offers already sourced for the children's half term; While sorting out clutter I have found quite a few things which will be good for the Christmas shoebox appeal so i won't have to buy so much for it; a Luton van full of baby and children stuff has been distributed to the niece and nephew about to make their appearance; and a lot of stuff has gone to the tip.
Luckily the children seem pleased with the change (if a little doubtful): the elder one is pleased she won't have to continue to attend kids club every day, the younger one has aksed if I can try to be more like grandma, cook him a different tea every night and put his school clothes out for him at bedtime!
DH and my brother (who is living with us for a while) are worried that I will sink into a trough of depression so I am under strict instructions to go to the gym regularly, and get a hobby:j.
I have even started kinitting (I am just a beginner but had some wool lying around) and DD likes the look of the scarf so it can be a cheap birthday present for her.
So, sink or swim, oldstyle here I come!:eek:0 -
Morning all,
Molly glad your dad is feeling better, don't forget to look after yourself.
I'm having real problems with my legs so much so that I'm having to use my walking stick around the house. I rang my consultant yesterday and they have brought my appointment forward to next Thursday when I will be put on the list for a knee replacement. I understand the waiting list is 3 months, I'm really hoping it will be done before Christmas. We will see.
Today I'm having a rest day. My brother goes home tomorrow so he is packing and generally getting ready for his long flight.
Carol bee, we had Christmas in Australia last year with my son and family. It's lovely that your family are coming to you:D
It's just under three weeks until our new grand daughter is due, we are all very excited.
I need to plan tea, no idea what yet. I shall pull something out of the freezer.
My son is working in the hotel for the next three evenings. Ad then Saturday and Sunday so he needs to plan his college work carefully.
Did anyone watchFabulous Fashionistas last night. What inspirational women. I'm sure yoga and stretching is massive in keeping you young. I'm hoping to grow old very disgracefully:rotfl: have a good day all xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning all,
notjustlaura I hope all goes well at the hospital and the tests come back ok.
FlubM good to have you on board. Just remember, one step at a time. Trying to go OS in one big go is a recipe for disaster.
The weather is fairly bright here but its cold and wet. Hubby has spent the morning in the garden and has just gone out to price a job. Its worked out rather nicely as he's left the top shed open...I'm going to dejunk some of it before he gets back.
Dog got me up twice in the night and my bladder got me up once. I don't feel as though ive had any sleep at all. I'll probably crash a bit later on.
Today is 'Change the bedding day' for me but it will have to wait till tomorrow. I'm struggling to keep on top of just basic jobs with all the activity that's going on in the house.
Youngest has received another certificate through the post from his college studies. He's got quite a collection now.
Shepherds pie for tea I think, with the hope that I don't burn it. Well I can live in hope.:rotfl:
