OS Daily Wednesday 18th September 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Nowt new at work situation and don't think there will be now until next week. Management and HR have gone away to think about our opposition to their proposal and our counter proposal and meeting is next week. I am not optimistic but at least we will have done our best to fight them.

Managed to sell a few ebay items yesterday, now I have to find time to pack and post them. I am determined to try and finish work on time tonight to get a little life/work balance.

DH is training tonight so it's usual salmon and stir fry for dinner. Black Forest ham and bean salad for him for lunch, just ham and salad for me. Weight stayed the same this week so need to be good :o

I forgot to post yesterday that I love being a gran too but GDD knows me as nan. I loved being her nannie but she considers herself too old for that now.

Better get going, so well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

  • Morning all!

I'm feeling much better today (have had cold/flu type thing) and am hoping to be B**chams free :) A busy day ...

    1. Attend hospital for annual ECG
    2. Visit M&D's to water plants and wash the greenhouse roof if the weather's OKish. At home I'll prepare a trough to sow some lettuce outside.
    3. Go to gym? Might be a bit too close to the cold/flu thing. I'll see how I feel after lunch and skip it if I'm running out of steam (I was yesterday).

The rest of the day is for knitting and reading.

    Dinner is Pacific Pie.

Hope everyone has a good,, OS day.

Damp and chilly here today but it's supposed to brighten up later.
Hubby's been fed and dropped at work, fish have been fed and so have I.
No real plans for today, I might vacuum upstairs but then again I might not.
I shall watch some catch up TV, read some more Harry Dresden and do some crochet.
Hugs to Molly, Hilly, PP and anyone else in need.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

Chilly here this morning but bright, I think more showers are forecast - they are pretty heavy when they arrive!
TTFTM - You've done all you can, let's hope Management sees sense.

DD was off work yesterday with a very heavy cold, at least she has had a good night's sleep and will be going in today, snotters and all! Not feeling great myself but I am just getting over a cold, hope it's not another one. It may be from the dreaded shed - nearly cleared everything now, but the dust was horrific so wondering if is that. I have made 4 trips to the tip and the car is loaded with another to take on my way home from work today.

My run of bad luck with things breaking continues - was sat eating my lunch in the staff room yesterday and the fridge started growling (sounded like a fierce dog) and then caught fire! The smoke from that probably hasn't helped either. May need to steer clear of everything mechanical.

Hoping my laptop charger arrives today, using DDs when she puts it down which isn't very often! Then I must do some housework, the shed has taken over my life and the house is suffering.

Have a good day, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Dull, dreich and a nip in the air here this morning.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was spag bol, all eaten and enjoyed. Remembered to get the chicken out to defrost, so will do roast chicken tonight, mash, veg and gravy.

Work yesterday was very quiet compared to Monday - but as we'd been so busy Monday I hadn't even opened by emails - so it did give my time to do that and tidy up a few other things too.

Only working until lunchtime today - so will do my normal chores afterwards. Engineer should be coming back hopefully to finally mend the DW with the correct part! (Fingers crossed!)

    Keep safe and well x

Hugs to Hester - I am trying to take it easy so hope you are too x

Bemuzzled - you show such fortitude of spirit xx

Well in the run-up to DD leaving for uni and as such the house is in chaos. It has cost me a small fortune and that is with buying offers etc.

My Dad continues with his miraculous recovery - I spoke to his GP yesterday and he said he was made of sterner stuff. There is so much running around though but hope things will be sorted soon.

Hugs for a good day x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Morning,

Didn't drop in y'day Tuesday is my manic day...but its now over woohoo.

Today 1 pf clean, then home to make more English muffins and tidy round the house.

Tea tonight chicken thighs for everyone but i'll have HM soup ;).

HH - Take it easy x
Molly - So pleased Dad is improving all the time x
TTFTM - Hope they realise its people livelihood :(

    Take care xx
You know your getting old when you
go to the pub sit outside
and admire the hanging basket
    Is officially 48% tight :D
  • Molly41 - Glad your dad is better.

Well today is dull but supposed to be sunny intervals. Certainly won't be holding my breath!
Changed the gas and elec yesterday to M&S as it seemed to be the best deal. Always a bit suspicious they reckon the change will save me £166 a year.

Last night's tea was homemade pizza. I just gently fried some courgette, pepper, mushroom and chorizo and then bunged it on the pizza base with some cheese. It actually worked really well.

Going to see if my xray is back at the GP's yet - it's only been 4 weeks!!
Need to visit the library too.

    Good morning everyone

The weather has brightened up a bit so the girls didn't take coats this morning. I hope they won't regret that decision :D.

Well my day has already gone a bit pear shaped. I had planned a day all to myself. I was going to go back and rejoin Weightwatchers this morning, have some lunch at our local wetherspoons and then toddle off to a ladies bible study this afternoon. It would have meant being out of the house all day......and then DD10 threw up her breakfast :(!
My eldest DD has agreed to babysit her this morning so I can still go and get weighed but then she has appointments in the afternoon so I shall be looking after my poor little girl instead. Oh well, the best laid plans and all that :rotfl:.

I've just started knitting again after many years and I'm attempting to make a dinosaur hat for my grandson. I've already gone wrong three or four times so I hope the weather stays mild for a few weeks longer :D. My painting session went really well yesterday too. I now possess 2 small canvasses of owls for my living room. Mine didn't come out too bad and my artist friends one was beautiful.

Tea tonight will be sausage casserole and mash. I need to get going and put it in the slow cooker so I'll say goodbye for today.
Take care and as always gentle hugs for all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x
