london hotels/bb for family of 5

I am looking for a hotel or b&b for 2 adults and 3 kids aged 15, 11 and 7 staying from the 2nd December for 2 nights but i'm really struggling to find something that isn't a ridiculous price, any help would be appreciated, thanks xx

  • we just book a travelodge family room and put youngest in with us. Feltham is a good one. look for travelodge or premier inn sale. Hotel rooms in central london for 5 are a fortune and petty horrible. Apart from some of these yuckly hotel/bb types or a flat we have never found any chain in london for 5. or we have a times got 2 travelodge rooms at kings cross one -they have triples and family rooms pretty cheap in sale.
  • Oh and also there are a few places on airbnb that take 5.
  • thanks, we are going to Harrods to visit santa on the 3rd so would like to be within easy reach of that, i don't know London well at all so any advice will be welcome lol does the travelodge let you book for 4 but have 5?

You could book a private family room with ensuite for up to 6 people for £116 per night at the YHA London Central.

Travelodge family rooms are for for a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children (rooms have a double bed and sofa with pull out matress underneath for 2 children), so you should book two rooms. If they realise there are five in a room they could ask you to leave. With TL up to 2 children can eat the breakfast buffet free with each paying adult. You could look at somewhere on the outskirts like Park Royal as it is about 5 minuteswalk to the tube station from there and it is a direct 25 min journey from there to Knightsbridge for Harrods. Also on the same line one stop further along is Hyde Park corner if you wanted to visit Hyde Park Winter Wonderland. £26 per family room for 2/12 and £35 for 3/12 and it has paid parking at the hotel. The reviews on Tripadvisor are mixed but it seems ok as a base for somewhere to sleep. The TL at Cricklewood is a newer hotel and £31 for 2/3 and £45 for 3/3. The bus goes from outside the hotel to Marble Arch for Winter wonderland and you have Kilburn tube station a 10 minute walk away, change at Green Park to get to Knightsbridge (25 min journey). To book add each room to your basket and then do one checkout as if you block book it charges the most expensive rate for all rooms.

There is a new Travelodge at Vauxhall that has family rooms for £59 and £67 for your dates and is just beside the tube station. 10 minute tube journey involving one change to Knightsbridge.
  • What about serviced apartments. There's some behind the tesco next to the hammersmith flyover in earls cour.its on direct bus routes so you should be able to get to Harrodsburg easy enough, and earls court tube is about a 10 minute walk.

  • Serviced apartments are pretty steep -we have been using them a lot -long story-because of a work situation-generally £180 ish night is cheapest -had odd ones for £150. We just stay in travelodge with 5 -never had a problem. clealry we dont throw it in their face-it started when youngest was baby and you could have 2a/2c and a baby in a cot then baby got bigger just moved in tobed and asked they at tiem said fine. just carried on since then noone ever bothered or for that matter asked us.

as I said for london apart from t/l or premier in and bunking 5 in a 4 room the only other thing less than £100 will be airbnb.

TL sale on might be too late . Most london ones are okand you can get to stuff via underground failry easily just not airport ones.
  • We do like people have suggested and get two Travelodge rooms. I don't like the subterfuge of sneaking one child in, I wouldn't be able to relax!

Having said that, the hotel we prefer is the one in Southwark and you don't have to go though reception to get to the bedrooms so I don't see how they would ever know.
