Wordpress website & hosting

I want to knock up a blog for a specific purpose. I have a fair amount of experience of using Wordpress.

I see that I can use the wordpress hosting at http://wordpress.com/

Are there any significant disadvantages to that? Would I be better buying a domain and hosting and running wordpress on that?
I have some budget to put into this so the costs aren't the issue. I've also got a historic website hosted with Fasthosts so I'm au-fait with that sort of thing too.

Are there any tips for a reliable hosting service?

I haven't an answer, but I'd like to post the same sort of question, though I do already own the appropriate domain name.

you are better off getting a domain and finding a cpanel host that will allow WP through an instant 1 click service like Softaculous.

Do you mean that they're already configured it for Wordpress so it's just 1 click to activate?

add in another domain and your sorted for another 4 sites (6 in total)

No it is a 1 click and it will install WP in the correct files structure and set up the Databases, rather than having to FTP the files and then manually set up the databases etc.

I use easyhosting.co.uk for a few sites and they have never let me down.
Included is installatron which auto installs, updates and backs up lots of scripts including wordpress.
