Divorce Fees

Hi All, I am just asking for a friend. His wife has instigated divorce proceeding after they have been separated for over 2 years. She has filed under unreasonable behaviour. She tells him that he will have to pay her solicitors costs as well as the court fees. Can anyone advise if this is correct. Many thanks in advance.

Yes...in a way. The money for solicitor and court fees comes from the joint marital assets before settlement. If the husband has a lot of money tied up in pensions then he might be asked by the court to pay the divorce fees to the ex wife using cash in exchange for a lower percentage or no part of the pension....it could work the other way around too if the wife has more money tied up in her own pensions then she'll have to use her own cash to pay the costs.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
