Has anyone heard of this (labour related)

There's some hilarity in our house tonight, it's just kinda been one of those days where things seem funny. :D

So, given that...when daughter told me her friend had been 'chemically removed', that was enough for me and I couldn't stop the grin or swallow the laugh. Daughter is now in fits too but insists she's right and her friend was 'chemically removed' from her Mum during labour.

I thought she was getting mixed up with the baby being induced but apparently no...this was a drug given to 'get the baby to just slide out'.

I told her you 'chemically remove' a wart or some other growth but I've never heard of a baby being chemically removed.

So fellow MSE'rs, has she got confused or have I got some grovelling to do? :D

Induction using drugs is also known as chemical induction, but at you know, that doesn't mean the baby just slips out :D

I would imagine that's what she means and it's possible that with a combination of pain relief drugs and faded memory that's how her mother told her she remembers it happening.

If there really were a drug that did that I think we all would have heard of it by now .

  • Sounds good to me! ((Makes mental note to request chemical induction from midwife as previous induction didn't quite go like that!)) Lol!

Well, I work in a maternity department so I *know* this doesn't exist... but at 25 weeks pregnant I'm still willing to hope! :rotfl:

    HA!

    Just HA!

*drums fingers on table waiting for her to finish homework so I can lord it* :rotfl:

I didn't think she'd got this right but it's been nearly 14 years since I was in labour and times do change so I thought I just ask before being emphatic. :D

I do think either her or her pal has got mixed up with being induced :D

I would be a very popular midwife if I could facilitate babies just slipping out. Not to mention very wealthy when I marketed that potion :) Perhaps I could follow it up with the snap instantly into size 6 jeans potion :rotfl:

I guess some people say that c sections are easy and the baby "just" gets lifted out. ( having done both I would not choose a section though!)

I was induced with the first two and had a section with daughter so I spoke with some authority on the matter when we were discussing it but she was insistent. :D

    Kids..... gotta love 'em. :rotfl:

  • Maybe the mother had her labour chemically accelerated? She may have gone into labour, stalled, then had a drip put up to restart/intensify the contractions, thereby allowing the baby to, em, slide out?
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Whaddaya waiting for? :D Bit late for me for the "babies just slipping out", but I'd be interested into the "snap instantly" potion!
