I ordered a gas cooker from a well known retailer and was given a delivery date....however on the morning of this date retailer rang to say my cooker had failed to be delivered to them and he would have to chase it up....later in the day and after receiving no further info I rang them back only to be told I would have to wait several days for another to be delivered...trouble is I got rid of my old cooker the day before the new one was due to arrive so now have no cooker....what are my rights....also the new delivery date is inconvenient.....any advice is most welcome...thanks in advance

Read MSE's Failed Delivery article for information on how to reclaim out of pocket expenses.
Unless you were instructed to get rid of your old cooker by the seller, I fear you must take some responsibility for acting a bit prematurely.0 -
After being given another delivery date my cooker arrived...but...it was a totally different cooker to the one I ordered...different make, model and colour...when I challenged the driver he said "oh i didnt know it was different" he rang his boss came back with this reply "the cooker hasn't arrived, this is a better cooker" I said I didn't want it, he thought I wouldn't have noticed and accepted delivery...anyway...I was assured they would be able to deliver one at the weekend...Saturday morning (after nearly two weeks of waiting) he turned up with the correct cooker but the wrong colour, he stated they didn't make that cooker in black but I had already seen it in currys so knew they did...I had ordered it in black and had the delivery note stating colour black....in the end the cooker was taken back and I received my money back after a bit of complaining but was still left without a cooker (again) all weekend, I ordered one from currys in the end...48 hours later and with no hassle or mistakes whatsoever I had my longed for cooker...phew...note to self...keep your old stuff until your your new item is delivered and always check it's the right make and model before you accept delivery0
