Small business plan

Hi.
I am currently looking to go self employed. I want to start a small business football coaching.

Are there any websites or even help I could get helping me to set my goals for business planning, funding and so on.

I have an understanding of what's needed for my coaching academy, the other side to it all though I am pretty unsure about. Any advice would be great, thanks.

On a more serious front, https://www.gov.uk/browse/business has some pointers on how to keep legit.

The main things will be getting the right business format (sole trader/Ltd company, vat registration or not) which your accountant can advise on, and insurance for if you injure a kid or if they injure themselves or kick one another.

In its simplest form, a sole trader with the right insurance and you just need to register with HMRC as self employed and you're away. Better is to also set up company back account, and take card payments for lessons and extras - there are several threads around on this subject, the one I use is Worldpay Zinc which is pay as you go, suits small business card use, and currently has a promotion. Better again, get your own lawyer to draw up your terms of business getting parents to warrant they indemnify you for damage to kids etc.

As for projection of business goals, you want a business advisor. I'm sure you can find some online, or some people here might give you some pointers. As I assume you're not looking for a bank loan or anything, you don't necessarily need a full business plan chock full of details, it just may help you appraise your business opportunity objectively.
  • Brilliant, will have a read, thanks.
