I bought a dishwasher, or thought I had, off the internet, the site clearly stated that it was in stock, I checked on how long delivery would be they said usually next working day. 30 hours later they emailed me to say it wouldn't be in stock until October but I could pay another £200 for a better one, I contacted them and said this was outside my budget and I couldn't wait until October please reimburse my credit card. They emailed me a credit note. What are my legal rights

You are entitled to a full refund on your card. It could be confusion that they thought you asked for a credit note, or they accidentally processed it wrong. Give them a call.0 -
As the company were unable to fulfil the terms of the contract, you are entitled to a full refund back to your credit card.
Another option that you have is to contact them again and state that you wish to cancel the contract using your rights under the Distance selling regulations.
Doing this means that you must be refunded, but they are legally allowed up to 30 days to do this.
If you still don't get your money back, contact your credit card issuer and inform them of the problem. Your card issuer also has legal obligations, one of which is section 75 of the consumer credit act, and this makes them jointly liable with the retailer for the contract.0 -

If you have any problems, you could refer them to this page on the Trading Standards website: http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/cgi-bin/shropshire/con1item.cgi?file=*adv0051-1011.txt
Under the heading Performance of the contract, it says:Unless otherwise agreed, the trader should supply the goods or perform the service within 30 days from the day after the day the consumer placed the order. An exception to this is when goods or services are not available - the trader is then required to inform you and reimburse any payment, including postage and packing charges. You are not required to do so, but you and the trader may agree an alternative date for delivery of the goods or for the service to be performed. The trader may, subject to fulfilling the necessary requirements on giving information, supply substitute goods and services.0 -
