This is getting a bit embarrasing now.

Here's some useful advice from npower -

    https://customerservices.npower.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/591/~/i-have-a-new-tenant-moving-in-to-my-property-–-what-do-i-need-to-know-and-do%3F

Now, under your logic that would be a pretty clear breach of the DPA. Since you are so knowlegeable in the legal interpretations of the act i look forward to hearing of of your complaint and the subsequent outcome regarding this.

Fortunatly, i suspect your interpretation to be shall we say, 'slightly lacking'. Given previous track record I do however expect an impassioned justification and/or refusal to accept the truth. I wont be bothering to continue this as it's clear that the hole you currently occupy is deep enough.

So what your saying is I can contct your utility supplier and provide meter readings on your behalf, with no proof that they are indeed correct?

Fortunately for me i'm fully aware of contract law, and a contract exists between consenting parties. If the OP has no contract with the LA/LL in regards to utilities, then yes the utility company has not adhered to the strict laws governing contracts.

That advice you have posted does not clarify, aside from assisting Npower in billing the correct person, the formation of a contract. Again, the LL can telephone and advise that Joe Bloggs is moving in, does not mean Joe Bloggs has a contract with said provider.

Actually i need defend nothing, your 'evidence' is lacking to such a degree that you make yourself look foolish enough

My letting agent said they'd arrange all of my utilities too but I just ignored that and did it all myself. I noted on the inventory the companies I'd switched to and that was that. In fact I think they hired a separate company to handle it and they sent me an email...I just replied saying I'd be doing it myself and didn't hear anything else. Wouldn't trust them with this kind of stuff anyway.
