My quest to be more of a "saver" and less "spendy"

Back again! Today is my day off, well, off work anyway, I've got plenty of stuff to be getting on with if I can just get my b*m in gear
I've already listed 5 items on eb*y which was my target for today, but eb*y is being really slow for me for some reason, so I'm having a break.
Bad news at work yesterday, we're looking at definite redundancies next year, so I have extra incentive to clear these debts asap. They're not huge compare to others on here, but if I don't get on top of things, they will be huge before long
Things I need to do today:-
1. Do something about the mountain of ironing that stares at me each time I go into the kitchen.
2. Cook something delicious with the surplus eggs in the fridge.
3. Wash my work clothes ready for Saturday
4. Go see my parents and pick up their shopping list so I can get their shopping the same time as mine tomorrow (both parents are housebound)
5. Do some cleaning. Doesn't matter how little or how much, just so long as I do something
6. See if I can get the balances on my cards so I can put my totals on here

Half the ironing done and 5 more items listed on Eb*y.
I feel ashamed of myself when I see how many of the items listed still have the shop tags attached.............that money should still be in my bank account.....:mad:
Off to see parents now, then cook tea.....back later.Nationwide cc - Balance 7/1/14 £2720.17 - Current balance £2714.10Halifax cc - Balance 7/1/14 £2779.86 - Current balance - £2751.43Savings - Balance 7/1/14 £750.00 - Current balance - £4000 -
Me again............three times in one day, sorry!
Dinner was lovely, we had chicken korma using ingredients we already had in the house. BF's boys are with us this week and they ate all of it so it must have been ok. Its difficult with other people's kids, you're never sure what they like to eat! My boys are all grown up, but when they come over, I know what they like to eat. BF's boys live quite a way away and are a bit younger so its a learning curve
Mum and dad were ok, but not brilliant. Dad has cancer so he can be up and down. Today was an ok day for him :T
I've been through the freezer and the store cupboard and have worked out a basic menu for the next week. When we go shopping tomorrow, we should be able to get away with spending about £20-25 hopefully.
We've ordered 4 bags of coal so that should keep us going for a few weeks, supplemented by some old bits of wood DS3 brought me a few weeks back.
Have 23 items listed on ebay at the moment and just had a pleasant surprise when I realised that today was free listing! I'm usually quite good at keeping track of free listing weekends, but I missed this one:D
I've had a rethink about my finances. I have three savings accounts and have decided to reassign them as follows:-
1. Savings for house improvements which will be needed next year I'm sure - £1,002.20
2. Emergency Fund - £160.00
3. Money set aside for extra debt repayments each month - £20.00
Things I need to do tomorrow:-
1. Bill friend for some book-keeping work done
2. Pick up new glasses
3. Take BFs boys home
4. Take BFs boys shopping before they go home
5. Try not to spend too much money
6. Iron work clothes
7. Possibly clear remainder of ironing pile, but I can't promise I'll do this
Thats my moneysaving sorted for today, sorry for rambling! I'm off to have a lurk on other people's diaries now and maybe pick up a few new ideas

Good morning
Another day off today, with plenty to do.
Good news - I sold a BIN item on Eb*y last night for £40 and I've already distributed the money into the different accounts.
BF's boys go home today so we're going to make the most of their last day with us and take them shopping on the way home. I haven't had a look around the charity shops for ages and I'm in the mood for a good rummage today!! I won't subject the boys to my charity shop habit, I'll probably leave BF and sons to their computer/games shop exploring and have an hour or so to myself around the CSs.
I also need to do mine and parents weekly shop sometime today because I'm back to work tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a good day xNationwide cc - Balance 7/1/14 £2720.17 - Current balance £2714.10Halifax cc - Balance 7/1/14 £2779.86 - Current balance - £2751.43Savings - Balance 7/1/14 £750.00 - Current balance - £4000 -
Lovely day off yesterday, but its back to work for me this morning - days off always seem to fly past!
Didn't find any mega bargains in the charity shops yesterday, I found them quite expensive actually. I saw a lovely top, nothing special in the label, just a supermarket make and they wanted £4.50 for it, so I left it there.
Bought a few Christmas cards and three selection boxes, so I suppose the Christmas madness has now officially began!
Today's aim is to stay away from the coffee shop. I'm sure its not just money these coffees are costing me, I've a feeling they're full of calories too

Back again!!!
Fell off the wagon again yesterday and bought myself a lovely skinny cappuccino with an extra shotthat's £2.40 that could've gone into my change pot I'll never see again!
It's a really quiet day at work today, which is definitely not good when you're looking at job cuts
Dad not so good today, mums had to call the doc out this morning - don't know what she said yet though
On the plus side of things DS3 paid me the £200 he owes me and I billed a friend for some freelance work I did, so here's hoping I end the month with money leftover for a change.
Ooh yes I almost forgot, I have another bid on one of my Eb*y items.......yay!!!
Only fourteen days till payday......I wonder how many NSDs I can fit in there???Nationwide cc - Balance 7/1/14 £2720.17 - Current balance £2714.10Halifax cc - Balance 7/1/14 £2779.86 - Current balance - £2751.43Savings - Balance 7/1/14 £750.00 - Current balance - £4000 -
Back again!
I've fallen off the moneysaving wagon in style this week. We've had two takeaways and my menu plan has completely gone to pot.
My dad was taken into hospital on Tuesday. We had a horrible night on Wednesday, we were told he may not make it through till Morning. He did, thank goodness but he's still very poorly. I'm taking my mum to see him later. She's also ill with a degenerative disease, so this is extra hard for her. I don't know if I'm coming or going to be honest so the moneysaving has been forgotten this week.
I need to get back in control so I've just checked my online banking and all ok there. Checked eb*y and I have 2 items with bids that end today.
I've also taken some pork out of the freezer so hopefully we'll have a proper dinner tonight.
I've received one of this months cc bills so hopefully I can start putting some totals in my signature which should in turn make me more answerable.
Back later, hope everyone has a good day xNationwide cc - Balance 7/1/14 £2720.17 - Current balance £2714.10Halifax cc - Balance 7/1/14 £2779.86 - Current balance - £2751.43Savings - Balance 7/1/14 £750.00 - Current balance - £4000 -
At work at the moment. Dad still very poorly, but there's nothing I can do till tonight. My brother is with him this afternoon and I'll go down after work.
Lunch time now and I've just checked my online banking. PayPal money duly transferred -
£20 transferred into emergency fund bringing this up to £190
£10 transferred to extra debt payments bringing this to £40
Made myself a shopping list of sorts, will call at Mr Ts after the hospital and see what we can pick up. My brain isn't functioning that we'll at the moment so a list is a good idea!
Few things relished as it's a free listing weekend this week, but I probably won't list anymore for a while. Have two items with bids so far.......only 99p thoughNationwide cc - Balance 7/1/14 £2720.17 - Current balance £2714.10Halifax cc - Balance 7/1/14 £2779.86 - Current balance - £2751.43Savings - Balance 7/1/14 £750.00 - Current balance - £4000 -
Hi SS, sorry to hear that your Dad is poorly with that on your mind I would think you can be forgiven for falling off the wagon a little bit.
Well done on your eb*y sales so far, I hope all pay up with no problem.

Thank you for you kind words Chrysalis, I don't know if Im coming or going to be honest.
Really puts things into perspective. Ive been sitting with him for hours, having a break now but all I can think of is that if he knew about these debts he's give me such a kick up the b*m!!!
My parents have never been in debt, if they didn't have the cash they just didn't buy it!
