Better domain registrar than 123-reg?

I have been with 123-reg for a number of years now, without any issues. Recently though it has all gone to pot - in particular, they took my money to renew a domain, but did not renew it. They took 17 days to respond to the support ticket that I logged for that. In the meanwhile of course, I phoned them up on their 0871 number, which cost me £4.50 (30 mins on hold before I spoke to anyone), and they told me to simply re-register the domain, promising to refund the second registration fee (obviously!) and the original fee too as compensation for the cost of the support call. Unfortunately, they haven't refunded that. Calling them up again seems like throwing good money after bad, and part of money saving is about knowing when to cut your losses. I found a number of other web sites full of complaints from people who have also found that this previously good business is now really bad, so it doesn't seem worth staying with them.

Anyway, this is an advice forum, not a griping one. What I am looking for is a suggestion for who I can move my domain registration to. The features I want are;

1) Reasonable price which includes;
2) Ability to set your own name server
3) Ability to forward domains and sub-domains
4) Must cover .com, .co.uk and .eu domains
5) Customer service that responds if they mess up
6) A reputation for not messing up!!!
7) I don't mind where in the world they are - e.g. US is fine if anyone knows better registrars there.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Martin

    I always use ukreg. I'm pretty sure they meet all your criteria. I've never had any problems and they've always been quick to respond to any questions by email without any need to phone them.

    I had a similar experience with 123-reg. Their renewal prices went through the roof so I requested a transfer to Godaddy and they basically never responded when I requested an authorisation code, so I had to contact their parent organisation (at the suggestion of tech support at Godaddy).

    That's great thanks. I'll take a look at both ukreg and easily.

    Thanks

  • I recommend perfect hosting http://www.perfecthosting.co.uk/ they are a UK company who are VERY Helpful. I have been with them for 3 years now and they look after a few domains for me and arrange the purchasing of new ones.
    Hope this helps

    This is one thing that easily do not do - I am still paying 9.99 per two years for my .co.uk domain after renewing it for the 4th time with them.

    20 forwarded emails and web masking are included plus if you do a WHOIS search in the domain it is in my name not easily's.

    I have also used Easily.co.uk for a number of years for three domain names with absolutely no issues.
