Jewellery Making advice needed please
Options
My daughter will be 9 in November and as part of her party we are going to make some bracelets. I know that the easiest way is to buy beading elastic and just thread them on. I am a bit daunted by all the beads however so would be grateful if someone could advise me on the best beads to buy for this activity and the best place to buy them. Thanks

Best place to buy beads for that situation is ebay. You will see loads of choice on there, how many kids are you catering for? If there are lots I would suggest you stick to plastic beads, saves you having to worry about any possible glass breaking incidents!
Maybe get some letter beads so they can incorporate their name/fav pop group into the bracelet.
The thicker the elastic you buy the easier to thread the beads, but at nine they should all be fine with using a thin elastic.
To make, measure wrist using a tape measure. Draw a line on a piece of paper that length (I use a ruler but I doubt you will have enough rulers spare for each child). Lay beads out along the length of the line and arrange in style required. Thread onto elastic and tie a knot, youtube how to try the knots, there is a way that is more secure.

Wooden beads are quite popular now too and instead of elastic you could use cord tied in a bow to fasten with 2 wooden beads knotted at the ends. Hobbycraft usually have large packs of beads that would be suitable, just make sure the holes are large enough for whatever threading material you use.Use your stuff challenge 50/500

When you have made a knot in the bracelet, finish with a dab of clear glue or nail polish. This will strengthen the knot to help prevent breaking. Have fun!0
