Lovefilm stopped game rentals a month ago, but there is another dedicated game rental company called Boomerang Rentals. It's like £10 and in my opinion a much better service than LoveFilm anyway. It also has a free trial to begin with.

As for which console, I'd go for the PS3. I own both and the PS3 would ONLY edge it because of free online and the Blu Ray. Games wise there's no real differenceKnowledge is a tool, and like all tools, its impact is in the hands of the user.0 -
There have been some very good deals on the PS3 recently as the big online retailers (and sony) look to get rid of stock. Haven't seen too many on the 360 yet but after Xmas I'd expect some very good deals.
PS3/360 have a good 2/3 years of top end releases yet, plus a huge back catalog.
If you just want to game (including online) then PS3 is the one to get. If you want a better online experience then Xbox Live is light years ahead of PSN, but it's all down to taste at the end of the day.0 -
PSN will stop being free shortly.
I'd still go with the PS3 though. Sounds like the blu ray player would be of use, as you have love film.0 -

PSN on the PS3 will always be free. You only have to pay to play online on the PS4.0 -
I have both and would pick the PS3, as said before free online gaming, has a blu ray player, and you can use your Netflix and lovefilm services without having to pay the additional fee Xbox charges you.0
