website question

Ok I have just done a e.commerce website via wix. not ready as such, but I still just published it to get some feedback from a select few, which this type of website would interested in.

I have given them the web address ( no links) but nothing is showing up yet with that web addy.

so how long does it take for the 'published' website to be live in searches using the direct web address???

Edit, or will I have to drive people to the site via direct links to give it a boot up the butt.

We have a huge event in just over a week, and this website is purely for that type of market/customer, so I really do need it that when they tap in the web addy for it to show up

Not sure what 'wix' is...

In general when you order a new domain for a website it will be available within an hour or so and a maximum of 24 hours to propagate throughout the dns system, usually much much quicker. When you have set up your hosting and uploaded the site it will be available instantaneously. I set up a new domain in my hosting last week and it was fully working within 30 minutes.

Without knowing the address of your site it is impossible to say what the problem is, but I suspect you have not set it up correctly.

Wix .com is a webitesite builder domain thing a bit like 1 and 1 etc I think I might have been a bit hasty when I clicked the publish button, will try again this afternoon.

actually it can take upto 72 hours for a domain to propagate fully, but normally it will be available to upload files etc. within an hour, but some people may not be able to view the site due to DNS propagation. I think wix use subdomains like mysite.wix.com. for ecommerce best to have your own domain as you will need an ssl certificate

I have bought a domain name via wix

so it can take up to 72 hours to show up if I tap in the web addy in the search bar yes??

yes, it will most likely show locally to you well within 24 hours, but may not show for others around the world

use http://www.intodns.com to check DNS status or issues
