    Morning....

So I had a bit of a panic at the weekend when I was doing some research on the costs of dd's year abroad... as she only gets the basic maintenance loan this is never even enough to pay for accommodation let alone all the on top expenses the usa is going to cost.. visa/flights/insurances/ etc etc... but luckily I work with someone who's dc is going this year so am getting lots of useful advice, along with the good old internet... I have been saving and hopefully when the time comes will have enough for up front costs... so guess where my £150 unallocated £'s went..:D

Her house for this year has finally been confirmed as one girl was dragging her heels at signing the tenancy, she had paid so not sure what the problem was. but all done now and house becomes theirs in 2 weeks time... Have already paid first months rent and saved enough for second month so feeling okay with that one at the moment...

    Money News..

Response from the ICO.... can't help, agree with the FOS, no default for me.... oh well, I will keep saving for f & f's (alongside everything else) and try and get rid of this one first so I don't have AR markers for the rest of my life..!!!!!

Still no word from cabot for my halifax cca... over 2 months now.... and nothing from NW yet but its only been a couple of weeks....

Once I have the responses from these 2 I shall cca the other 3, one of them being the undefaulted sod... you can bet your bottom dollar that paperwork is in order..!!

    So for my memory -

PRAT - BC - CCA fulfilled
    Capital One - CCA fulfilled
    Cabot - Halifax - Still outstanding 60 days +
    NW - Still outstanding

to be done - Creation (sods), RBS and M & S...

Otherwise all just ticking along.. still decluttering. .must get on the treadmill... still a lb down...

Must pin LM down and work out how much I am paying towards our next break... will update when I know..!

  • Glad the panic about funding DD's year in USA has abated:beer:. Great to know someone whose experience can help. Can I be cheeky and ask if your OH is going to be contributing to the costs. Seems like a huge burden for you to be carrying on your own:eek:

Also, being nosy again but it's relevant this time;). Were you given any reason why the default was refused? My only non-default was from my old Asda CC managed by NewDay. They were managing it pre-DMP days, I think they manage a lot of cards not just where people are in arrears etc. They have never defaulted me, all is showing as green on my Noddle credit report. It was the smallest of my debts and I think that possibly, even from the outset, I was probably paying at least the minimum monthly payment when Stepchange divvied up the payment money between creditors. Now I'm self-managing I've kept it at the same level so I expect there's no hope of a default being applied and backdated now.

Freakily, my last 2 payments to NewDay on Noddle have a AP marker on (as opposed to just the DMP one). This dates from when I went self-managed and had to phone them. The AP was obviously what they had to do at switch-over even though the payment is the same. This is bothering me as if it stays on my file for 6 years from May this year (long after all defaulted debts fall off in 2019) it will ruin a clean start.

I haven't questioned this with NewDay or asked for a default as I was planning to just pay the whole thing off asap and have done with it. It's now just under £1000, down from around £3000 so I could just about manage to do it but I was wanting to save all my money to offer F&Fs on defaulted/sold on accounts.

It's all such a worry, isn't it? I'm desperate to be debt free, can you tell?;)

    Hi cbc,

The general consensus is that although I was paying reduced payments, I was on an agreed plan, despite being on tokens for the last 10 months ish... the fos said they will probably default if I continue on my £5 a month for 6 months but no sign of it yet so don't think they will. I am not going to stress just will be the first I pay off..

The problem with any markers other than default or up to date is they stay for 6 years from when the debt is settled so if don't pay it off and stay at £5 a month it will take 50 years and then 6 years after that before it falls off my credit file.. not sure i'd care much as I ain't living that long.. :rotfl:

If your up to date on your Asda I would leave it be, as if you are paying the minimum payment then you are up to date.

As for the other one.. you could push for a default or just pay it asap as it would be 6 years from whichever and there is no promise that they would backdate the default despite some people suggesting this is always done..

Hi Puzz, glad things are going OK. I only visit the board every now and again as I find the DMP thread a little monotonous now, I know I shouldn't as we all started there.

Sounds like quite an adventure coming up for your dd. I think a lot of our debt stemmed from our kids uni-days but we are through that now.

Nightmare about the default, it just doesn't seem right? Have you simply tried not paying them anything?

Not to rub it in but got all our defaults, most then sold us on. Managed a small F&F but didn't manage another I tried. May try again next year.

Anyway still the same here Mrs BB happy in her semi-retirement, but she is looking for some part time work, although that is a fleeting glance it would appear ;)

My DMP is now slow and steady, 51% paid but now I'm paying less than 50% of the peak payment it will be 5 years to clear but I'm just not bothered. Forget I'm on a DMP now, we manage just fine. I feel like I've played the game a little but I really don't care.

So much so that I'm onto the next stage which is retirement. I spend more time on that board now. Not working a day past 55 now, and not that I am counting but that is 1939 days away

Surprisingly enough DMP and retirement should coincide :)

    Hi bb,

Lovely to hear from you and so glad all is going well in your household and with your dmp.

Thank goodness you did pop in and mention that word retirement.. made me get my papers out and noticed that when I got tuped 18 months ago there seems to be some things missing from my pension statement such as expression of wish etc.. so I am on it and its all thanks to you...:T

I am slowly saving for my first f & f so am just going to aim for the undefaulted one first. i don't think it will be the end of the world if I still have one showing AP's after all the rest fall off but would like it to be gone soonist.. unfortunately the old uni thing is quite expensive so I am always saving for the year ahead for that.. never mind I will get there in the end.

Take care of you and Mrs bb.

    Morning...

    Not much to report here..

Tomatoes still growing in abundance, have had to make 2 loads of pasta sauce to reduce the amount of bowls in the fridge and they just keep coming....! also had 2 more harvest of runners this week so all good in the veggie world...!

No word still from my cca requests, I have written to cab*t to say as they haven't replied I shall be ceasing payments until they do... its only a £5 but it can go in my f & f pot for now....This debt is £4k so would be nice to lose it...!!!!

Have been washing machine less over the weekend due to a split hose.. OH will fix it tomorrow, its quite liberating not chasing washing round the house...

Need to go into town today, waiting on dd arising.... to see if she wishes to come with me, won't be a high spend day though just a few essentials..

Had LM over for dinner and gave her my half of the flights bill, she seems happy to pay for the accommodation so I can use my saved cash for spending money and hopefully have leftovers for savings...

No exciting plans for the week, half the team are on leave so expect those of us left will be busy.... Out next weekend with my girls..

And really must get back on that treadmill.. its like I do 2 days and think that will do...!!!!

    Happy Sunday..

    Monday again...

Just taken a quick look at my latest noddle report and 2 of my debts have disappeared... now this usually happens when they are changing hands so that may mean my m & s one is/has been sold on.. but doesn't explain where my cab*ot/Halifex one has gone as this is in dispute with regards to the lack of cca so far.. umm.. interesting.....

Nothing else to report so far today....:D

    Monday again....but a short week for me then a 4 day weekend..:D

Received my cca stuff from N*twest, not sure its correct so may get this checked out over on the aad site.. its my second biggest debt and I am more than happy to pay it if this paperwork is correct but don't want them trying to pull a fast one..!!!

Spendy foodie weekend.. takeaway Friday.. oh paid.. and out with girls Saturday night.. That's enough naughty food now...

Cooked up another pasta sauce yesterday as tomatoes had crept up to 4 bowls again, despite giving away 2 bags full on Friday... they just keep coming....:rotfl:

dd's house rental is theirs today but she's not rushing down to get keys or anything .. she is so laid back..(lazy..) I suspect we shall go down in the next few weeks as she doesn't go back to uni until the end of September...

Nothing else exciting to report.. apart from I got an update from the CPL about the cat I trapped back in April and he has been rehomed.. aah.. love a happy ending..

Great news about the cat:j. I hope he'll have a really good and loving home. Like you, I love a happy ending especially where stray cats are concerned.

Good news all round for you at the moment, it's great to hear everything us going well:beer:

I'm very envious about your tomato crop as ours are growing well now but very few have ripened yet:(. I hope it won't be a repeat of one summer when had bowls of the things ripening on every available surface in several rooms:eek:. The runner beans though are a different story. After worrying that they weren't producing any beans when you'd been harvesting yours for weeks, ours have now gone rampant:eek:. We've been eating them practically every evening for weeks now (more than necessary according to OH, I think he'd be in heaven if I cooked something like broccoli for a change:rotfl:)) and yesterday he brought in 2 big 'bags for life' absolutely full of beans for me to freeze:j.

I'm glad Cabot told you the debt is currently unenforceable because they can't locate the paperwork. Robinson-Way are having problems producing anything on my former Tesco account. I've been waiting over 2 months since their last update that they were still looking for it so I'm hoping No News Is Good News;). I'm not paying anything in the meantime though.

I have paperwork come back from 2 creditors which they say is compliant but, like you, I'm a bit dubious. According to someone on the DMP support thread all MBNA debts pre 2007 are unenforceable but I've been on the AAD site and it says it's the MBNA Virgin card debts that are unenforceable, not ALL MBNA debts. I'm going to upload my paperwork when I get my **** into gear though. I've no intention of paying anything I don't need to, especially when I think of the obscene amount of interest these predators have charged over so many years:eek:. Good Luck with your NatWest paperwork.
