On the journey. You sound as if you and the missus have it figured out and sometimes that can be the hardest part (getting the OH on board)

Love this diary - so positive and upbeat! You are dead right about keeping a positive mindset. Not easy sometimes but pretty crucial to success. I wish you all the very best in your journey although you are already doing remarkably well!

Well.... Payday has arrived. Bank accounts checked. Plans made.
I am really pleased because I should be able to pay £542 onto C/C3 and save £150 into an emergency fund.
I know there are some on MSE who would say throw every penny at the debt and use the C/Cs' to cover any emergency. However, I don't think that approach suits my mentality. I prefer to pay "chunks" off my debt each month, whilst slowly building up an emergency fund. Indeed that is what I shall be doing with C/C3, so by the time Xmas 2013 arrives I hope to have cleared it.
That brings me nicely to the subject of buying Xmas presents....Now like most men I hate most shopping (unless its a new car, PC or TV :rotfl:). Luckily for me, my family is very small so Xmas shopping is not a problem...except for buying my wife's present (this is always a last minute purchase:eek: Very risky strategy!!).
So to the New Year, I should hopefully be in position to start paying down the family loan next.....
Hope you all have a great weekend and keep a tight grip on your pennies

 SLF. I too prefer the 'paying chunks off' approach. i think it really helps seeing it come down in large amounts

We have an emergency fund too (£750) we could pay it off the debt but it's better to have a buffer so you don't rely ever again on CC.
Keep up the great debt busting

Hi Sista, thanks for dropping by..... Yes I prefer to build up an Emergency fund as well, purely to stop me from using the dreaded plastic :mad:
Well this week has been a long slow week as I am currently working nights, still only two more left now then 5 days off :j
Still one good thing about working nights, I don't think about spending cash I haven't got!!! Had to buy some bread and diesel on Monday, but yesterday, today and tomorrow will be NSDs' so that's good news.
Take care everyone... keep plodding on....

Hello Diary, just dropping in to report another NSD for today :j
Unfortunately yesterday was not  I had to buy a new printer cartridge set for £30 as my wife needed to print off some research for her work. Still it didn't turn out too bad, when I went to the till to pay, the assistant told me I could buy another for half price and then she said there was a money back offer on my next purchase...... so I ended up with two cartridges worth £60 and I paid .......£33.75 :T
I am off work for a couple more days, hopefully they will be NSDs' . I just need to find something to occupy me, to stop thinking about money.... I have already planned the month out financially and have nothing pressing to deal with....until next payday anyway. I think I will review my C/C's and close any unrequired cards... that should help my credit file.
Bye for now, and as always DFWs', Keep plodding on... we can and we will do it!!!!
Regards
