brakes/discs and cam belt kit for citroen 1.6 vts

Hi guys, I'm just after advice on what make of brake pads and discs and a Cam belt kit to buy for my c2 1.6 16v VTS. Citroen want £400 for bakes all round and a further £300 for the cam belt to be done ? I figure buy the parts and do the job privately, I Really want to avoid Mickey Mouse parts. Really appreciate any feed back or advice you have, I've had the car 5mins and she's done 40,000 fsh. Thankyou

Buy genuine parts and fit them yourself?

Or buy OEM parts which are the same parts but in a cheaper box and fit them yourself?

Do you have the tools and knowledge to fit them yourself? When i 1st started fixing cars it cost me more in tools than a garage would charge.

But over time i collected a large amount of kit to tackle virtually any job.

I used to use Brembo and Mintex on my Xsara VTR, think I got them from GSF. You have to be careful with Citroen/Peugeot they tend to have a couple of variations for each model, it's annoying to say the least.

The cambelt price seems reasonable.
Try "brakesinternational" for parts for the brakes, but to be honest I'd go to a decent independent garage (ask for recommendations by word of mouth) and see what they quote you. At least then finding the correct parts isn't your responsiblity.
