favourites bar-how to choose icons?

new laptop, windows 8.
when I put something into the favourites bar by pressing the little star, sometimes it produces a little icon that I can tell what its for, but a lot of times it just shows the "e" sign. how do I choose an icon to differencite the different sites please?
(if that makes sense and is actually possible of course!!):T

Usually, the website provides the icons...
However, you can right-click on the one you want to customise, click Properties and click Change Icon.
Type something random in the icon file, hit Enter, it will default to the Windows icon files. You can also download some.
The above is for Internet Explorer favourites/bookmarks only, which I'm sure is what you use. Doesn't seem to work in Chrome. Not sure about Firefox if you use those as well.0 -
