credit card chargeback question

You clearly have a view on whether the case is winnable, but I'm saying that's irrelevant if the card company are sympathetic and the merchant and merchants bank are too busy with their core business to make an appeal in the requisite timescale.
Given its my job.
Sadly Sympathy is not something we can work to or banks would go bust with all the sob stories we hear.
Yes I often write off small amounts and will do as much as possible to help people. We are taught to be objective. End of the day giving someone false hope is not good.
Believe me looking at chargebacks is a important part of the retailer and their merchant banks CORE business.
They employ people who are dealing with nothing else. Just the same as I'm employed to deal with the customer side of the cycle.
TBH. I think the hotel will do something to help the OP. Could be that the manager concerned is not on duty ( night duty certainly will not be working the next day) and wants to deal with this themselves. Or needs to run this past the higher level management. Before calling back with what they are going to offer.
Lets hope the Op comes back with a update.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
I agree, but that doesn't mean it's not worth a stamp/letter in some people's eyes.End of the day giving someone false hope is not good.
I have personally taken cases before e.g. endownment mis-selling because I felt it encumbent upon me to do the best I could for my family and I couldn't live with the nagging doubt.
I had NO hope of winning, but I did.
Some people do have a need to follow these things through on principle sometimes even if there is isn't a great chance of success.
If you can't understand that then you'll have to accept that some are of are made differerntly :-)0
