ParkingEye - Sheffield

Hi, I'm writing to get some advice for my parents. Today they received a letter from ParkingEye telling them to pay £60 (14 days)/£100. What the payment is for, I'm not quite sure.
On the date in question they'd visited a small car park in Sheffield and paid for 4 hours. They left well in advance of that time. The letter has pictures of their car entering and leaving and the times seem to be correct. When they bought the ticket they had to enter their car reg into the machine. They no longer have the car park ticket.
I'm about to write a first (and hopefully last) appeal to ParkingEye, as I don't really have a clue as to what's gone wrong. The letter they sent seems very generic and automated.
Does anybody have any advice for my situation.
Much appreciated.

I suspect they made a typo in the car registration number so write a challenge from the registered keeper, not saying who was driving, but saying that 'the driver' did pay and display so, as the registered keeper now receiving this letter out of the blue, you can only conclude there may have been a keypad error with the car reg. The rk has no idea whether that would have been a typo by the driver or possibly a dodgy key on the machine but either way you require PE to carry out a manual check of unmatched payments that day to find the one that almost matches the car reg. Say that if they reject the challenge you will require that they show evidence of this thorough and complete manual check of all unmatched payments that day, as well as a copy of the contract with the landowner and a breakdown of how their charge can possibly represent a true estimate of any 'loss' when a driver has in fact paid and displayed.
Say that the driver & passenger had no idea of any error so did not keep their ticket (long since thrown away) but that they were patrons of xxxxxxx store/cinema/whatever and you enclose a copy of a receipt or two (if you have them, but of course keep the originals) to prove they were genuine customers.
Let us know if that doesn't work because you will then need a stronger, specific winning appeal letter for POPLA stage.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Very simple appeal to parking eye. It will get rejected. You can then appeal to popla. Come back here when you get the code and we can help you with a winning appeal.Proud to be a member of the Anti Enforcement Hobbyist Gang.:D:T0

It might not get rejected if you follow coupon-mad's advice. But, if it gets rejected, don't panic. We will guide youm as kirkbyinfurnesslad says through POPLA appeal.0 -
Thanks for the advice. I wrote an appeal to them along the lines of what Cupon-mad said. I'll let you know the reply, but of course that takes up to 10 days by post :wall: .0

What's 10 days got to do with anything because the payment deadlines mean nothing at all. You won't be PAYING!!

I'm sure I won't
. My irritation is more to do with the fact that even in this day and age they will still only reply via post!

Hello. Just to update anyone that's interested.
My Parents received an email today from ParkingEye following the appeal I had written last week. They said they checked the records and saw that a mistake had been made when the car reg was inputed into the pay and display machine. They went on to say "..as a gesture of good will, the parking charge would be cancelled". Gesture of good will indeed. :rotfl:
A successful appeal. Thanks0 -
Good result. Parking Eye are again showing some fairness in cases like your parents and it is always worth appealing to them if a mistake has been made.0
