In Car fitted DVD Player nightmare

We had a complete DVD package fitted into our car just after christmas, we paid for installation of DVD, two screens fitted into the leather headrests and infa red headphones. The whole thing has become a nightmare at first the screens wouldnt switch on, also no sound was coming from the speakers (we had asked for this as we have a 2yr old son who is too young to wear headphones, then the headphones wouldnt work for our older children, then whilst driving along one day the light fitment in our boot (we have a mercedes ML430 4x4) fell down where the installers had broken the clips off when installing the infra red for the headphones, the car has been back at least half a dozen times to the installers (a small local firm) now the whole system is not working at all, one minute saying their is no disk then it dont even switch on as if no power to it, we tried to run a disk cleaner but cannot do this as it says no disc, oh and this week the light fitment fell down again and we found that no new clips had been fitted but glue had been used to fix it back into the roof of the car, god knows what would have happened if we needed to change a bulb, today the installers agreed to have it back in but failed to collect the car stating that their driver had broken down (this is the 2nd time this excuse has been used) my partner has lost his rag this morning and drove to them and insisted they take our system out of the car and reimburse us our money in full within 48 hours oh and also replace our headrests as we would be left with two massive holes in them.

Where do we stand we have a small hand written receipt that we were given when we paid a deposit thats all as around the time we handed the rest of the money over they still had to connect the system through the stereo, they came and done this outside our property and never had their receipt book with them. The whole thing is a sham and a nightmare and I said to my partner that we should cut our loses and walk away and try and find someone else to get us up and running again. My dp however is fuming and will not be done over by anyone (his words).

  • An update on this, the company have said that they would reinburse us and "rip" it out of our car, this was on Friday however since then they have had numerous excuses for actually paying out, one was the bank hadnt cleared their funds (this is supposidly a business) another was that they had been very busy and not been able to get to the bank, now apparently they are going to bank tomorrow, we wait with baited breath.......
