Hi I need help I have a couple of defaulted accounts showing on my credit report while these are marked as satisfied I was told while applying for a mortgage that they are still open and I need to contact the account holder and get them closed I was wondering if any one had a letter template that would help me . Thanks in advance

If they are now satisified with a nil balance then simply write:
to whom it may concern,
Acc numb: 12345678
Sort Code: 12-34-56
Please close the above account.
Kind regards

What are the accounts for?
After default, they are normally terminated.
What do they show on your credit report?:beer:0 -
they were for the likes of phone bill and car finance run up by an ex partner in my name unfortunately dont have the account numbers anymore but do have as they are around the 5 year old mark but do have the company names listed on my experian0

sorry they show as satisfied on experian0

Bit confused as to how a defaulted then paid (satisfied) account can still be classed as open.:beer:0

I am only going on what I was told by the mortgage advisor if an account is satisfied does it automatically get closed by the company or do I have to contact them to get it closed0

I thought closed automatically.
Maybe ask the advisor what they mean?
When was the date of the last updates on the account. Recently or when actually paid to satisfy?:beer:0 -
I suspect that the advisor meant that they were still showing on your credit report. If you're applying for a mortgage, it's unlikely (but not impossible by any stretch) that you'll get anywhere if you have defaults on there.
I'd definitely ask the mortgage advisor for clarification - make sure he means the accounts are open (although by definition a satisfied/settled defaulted account is closed), and not just 'there', if that makes sense?Fritterati Challenge for 2013:

I was told that if I had a letter from the companies that was a chance that it could be put forward so even though I have a year left before the 6 years is up I may get a mortgage.0

A letter saying what? That's different to closing dormant accountsFritterati Challenge for 2013:
