Virgin or O2 at fault?

Whenever I try to call a certain number on O2 from my Virgin landline I get various messages about being unable to connect, this network is experiencing problems, etc.
Virgin say that there is no fault with my landline, they called the number and got an answer but it wasn't from my landline phone, O2 say there is no fault.
I can call the O2 number from my Asda mobile, I can send texts from CMS.
So who's fault is it usually? Virgin or O2?
The person whose phone I cannot phone will be visiting me tomorrow so I will phone them while they are standing next to me to see what happens.

Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:

Can you try a totally different phone on the virgin line, it could be your handset is faulty and is sending the wrong DTMF tones. My dad has problems phoning me, and it often takes 3 redials on his phone before it connects. The reason is because his handset is faulty and not dialling correctly.0

I have 4 DECT phones and all are the same.
I can call other people on O2 OK, it is just this one number.Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:0 -
maybe its the phone on the other end thats faulty ?
if its only that 1 number thats not working, it would seem likely to be at thier end0 -
Virgin cable or National service (these have different interconnect gateways). If some call attempts work and others fail with a 'problems' message, this usually means there is congestion - but it could equally be either Virgin OR O2 who is suffering from it.0
