Default on account by mistake - advice please

Hi there, during the summer i had a fraudulent transaction made on my marbles card, this was investigated and they gave me a new account and card, the old one was then closed. today I looked at my credit report and closed marbles account has an SF against it and it states I have defaulted on this account!!! this is obviously a mistake on marbles half as i always make payments on time. I never even received anything from them asking for final payments etc..
I have spoken to them today and they say they will look into it, Im now wondering if they are able to remove it from my credit file as it is their mistake? and even if they do, will this have made an impact? i am enraged by this as i have had numerous problems with them over this changing of accounts which have all been their fault.
thanks for any advice - Hazy x

If entirely their mistake or not your fault due to the fraud, then they are obliged to remove it so that it has no negaive impact on you.
Make a formal complaint stating that if they do not correct it and return your file and position to the equivalent state that it previously was, then you will be taking the matter to the FOS and the Information Commissioner.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I think "look into it" is a bit of a non-committal place to leave it. Ring them straight back, and lodge a formal complaint. If you've done everything on your end of the agreement (payments on time, etc) then as Fermi says, this is entirely unacceptable mistake on their part that needs immediately correcting.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. If not sorted soon, write and complain.
I say this as I had a complaint with their credit reporting department and they sent me conflicting letters dated the same day.
