motability change car early

Hi I received my motability car 4 days ago however I am unhappy with the car. I just don't feel comfortable and have lost confidence in the car. I don't like the ride and handling of the car and have hardly driven it since. I'd prefer a bigger car and an automatic. I phoned motability and they said its far too early on and I cannot change the car. Can they do this? What can be done about this?

    - you chose from a megga list a brand new car
    - you were given a brand new car 4 days ago
    - you now want another different, bigger brand new car
    - what do you propose they do with the now depreciated second hand car
    - what guarantees are there that if they give you a~n~other brand new car you won't change your mind again in 4 days

    You could offer to pay the difference in the money they would lose. You could request a cancellation and buy your own preferred car on the open market. If your old car was an automatic and this one is not you could plead you simply made a fundamental and stupid mistake when ticking a form. There's a check-list to mark each feature of the car you test drive
    out of 10, you then add up the totals and see which one comes out on top as your preferred model. The new list comes out next month.

  • Why did you order a car you had not test-driven before?

    Unfortunately you're going to have to wait a few months before they will let you cancel, and then they will charge you £250 cancellation fee.

    Even with a comfortable new car it can take more than 4 days to get the correct driving position, so perhaps you should book in with a Disabled Driving Assessment Centre (look in here for ones near to you http://www.mobility-centres.org.uk/find_a_centre/listofcentres.htm).

    They will also help you find what would be a suitable next car.

    - that's a big limp of advance payment to loose
    - the Coup's are small and even the hatch's are not much bigger
