Hope someone can point me in the right direction, as I have just got off the phone with Bt and they are as much help as a chocolate teapot
Basically my grandads getting on hes 85, about a month ago whilst vistin him I noticed a Bt letter on the table. Well that was odd because his landline was cancelled when my nan passed. Anyway when questioned he said they sent him a bill for £16 so he just paid it, they have since sent him another bill for £23 and then got sent a dept collectors letter.
They have said its for equipment rental (he used to rent the phone), he sent it back 6 years ago and they want a reference number to prove it was sent !!! They also said it was his final bill
What can i do about this?? what if they send more bills? He will just pay them
I know my grandad and he does everything to the letter so I know hes returned it, but even if for arguments sake he hadnt why no contact until 6 years later ???
Can anyone help please? xx

Hi kbh4031
I'm sorry to hear about this, please use the contact details found in my profile to send me your granddads details and I'll be happy to help him get this sorted.
Thanks

This is just the sort of petty nonsense that gets firms a bad name (although I doubt it'll make much difference to BT's reputation).
I hope that Neil will come back to tell us all that he has quashed the claim for £23, has had the £16 refunded and sent the gentleman a hamper by way of an apology.
There I go again, flying pig spotting.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I had the same scenario with an elderly neighbour paying a monthly rent for a trimphone when I was helping her deal with BT. The person at BT was extremely unhelpful. I did eventually find the receipt showing the phone had been paid for years previously by her husband who had been dead for 10 years at the time. I was also able to say these phones had been withdrawn by BT.
I did get the rental charge stopped!0 -
Thank you for the replies I have emailed Neil , lets hope it gets sorted now..this really is ridiculous0

Don't know why the "BT reps" bother to post - very rare for anyone to come back to say that they have resolved the problem!0

Wonder if its a PR exercisebrewerdave wrote: »Don't know why the "BT reps" bother to post - very rare for anyone to come back to say that they have resolved the problem!0

Neil did say how sorry he was.
Maybe too distraught to go to work since
Or maybe sacked for apologising. Thereby admitting the error when they could have pursued grandad to his grave!0 -
We can sort it as well.
Write on his behalf informing them the contract was terminated over 6 years ago, so any claimed "debt" is now statute barred, not withstanding it is totally disputed.
Good luck, Then get him to initial it.Be happy...;)0
