Can I get a Fixed or Replaced?

Hello,

This is my first post for help and advise!!!

I bought a Techika freeview/dvd combi TV from Tesco November 2011 (1 year 10months) this is only in the bedroom so not used on a daily basis - I have never used the dvd part of the tv however the other night (and each time ive turned on the tv to see if its still doing it) its making a noise as if the dvd is loading/ ejecting - but there isnt a dvd in it plus its on the tv mode!!

Ive tried unplugging it - adding a dvd changing functions and nothing gets it to stop!!

Am I entitled to take this back to Tesco to exchange/ refund or repair - as it looks as though they no longer have the same one in stock!!!

PLEASE CAN YOU ADVISE ASAP

THANK YOU

  • Welcome to the forum - I have a relative with the same TV & same problem. I did try to get the back off to disconnect the internal DVD, but it seems they use super glue on the screws, so no luck.

I too would be interested if anyone has a solution to this problem.
  • Hello

I took a chance and spoke to the technical dept fpor tesco direct and they have advised the DVD drive sounds like its broken so as its out of the warrenty it would need to be sent to them - completing the form online (they arrange for the collection or postage) and this costs £49.98 - if this cannot be fixed they refund the money and the item - so not bad when the tv cost £120 new!!

Still interested if anyone knows another way aroundf this or elsewhere is can be fixed cheaper!!!

    Thanks

Hopefully you'll get a refund and can then put that towards buying something better than a Technika. The combos are a waste of time when you can buy a DVD player for a tenner.

...it seems they use super glue on the screws, ....

If it is not under warranty, put a soldering iron tip on the screw head for a few mins, and promptly try and loosen the screw after removing the iron tip
