Open it over the phone and you will be given an instant decision and if successful, sort code and account number.

    So about 10 - 15 minutes.
  • For me it was really quick- they opened the account upon me finishing the application form on their website. I received the debit card and other paperwork a few days later.
  • Instant over the phone I got my card 4 days later in the post

For me it was nearly 2 weeks as I had to get a tax coding notice from HMRC, I had one but it was over 3 months old. It will depend upon if you satisfy their ID checks
  • I applied online on Saturday and received the paperwork and card this morning!

Thanks all, called today but was told it would be the same response time but 10 mins to apply online and 30-40 by phone due to reading out t&c's etc. Applied online and got sort code and account numbers instantly. Have to say that's a much better service and speed than I'm used to!! :)
