Case Intervention Team/ JSA 2 query

Hi all,

I've been browsing the internet, and this forum extensively, to garner what's actually going on with me. I've been claiming income-based Jobseekers for about 4-5 months now and only just started claiming assistance with my mortgage (SMI) for a month.

I'm out there looking for work badly as the monotony is mind-numbing and I was very wary of going on benefits in the first place because of the stigma but I lost my job over a year ago and was just surviving on my savings until I effectively went broke and was left with no option but to go on JSA. (apparently I didn't have the NIC to get normal JSA or something).

Anyhoo, my main concern arises in that I got a call out of the blue from a lady saying she was going to send out another form to check my entitlements. She said it was nothing to worry about but once I got the form I thought it was a bit strange that they'd be doing a check on me so soon and, what probably made it worse, was that the accompanying letter is from a 'Case Intervention Officer' from the 'Case Intervention Team' - that sounds serious!

If I lose my benefits for any reason I don't know what I'm going to do and this is driving me mad with worry. I'll lose the house for sure as I'm barely keeping my head above water as it is. Even a suspension of my entitlements could see me enter arrears on the mortgage and I've been into Santander who, I must say, were very unhelpful with their 'Rentention products' for existing mortgage customers. I'm paying an appalling rate of interest but I suppose that's by-the-by and my own fault.

Should I be worried? Who are these 'case intervention' people? I can't find any reference to them on the internet?

Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Just noticed another thing, the envelope in which I have to return the documents as the return address as: 'Single Investigation Service'. Anyone know anything about them?

Thanks again.

Joe

Have been trying to find out but no luck!

At least my reply will keep this thread 'bumped up'.

What documents did you have to fill in? Perhaps that will give us a clue.

What area are you in - have you googled the words with your council name? Different areas have different names for people in their departments.

    Sorry I can't help more.

I wouldn't worry too much. Is there anything in particular that you are concerned about?
  • Hi pmlindyloo,

I only got a JSA 2 form which is a Jobseekers Allowance 'making sure you get the right money' form from the Social Security Agency.

It's to be returned to the 'Single Investigation Service' in Belfast (that's where I live mind you).

I still haven't found anything on the internet relating to this. I'm only concerned as to why they've sent this. If someone has made an allegation against me or something, as I've read in other threads, then that concerns me because it could delay my benefits and have some very bad consequences in terms of my ability to survive and pay the mortgage, even if they pay in full by back-dating it later.

  • Could be. Same name after all.

Sounds very ominous. Very worried to say the least. If you come across anything please let me know. I'm going to book an appointment to see Citizens Advice and get their opinion. The form said I had ten days to get my reply back to them..

Single Fraud Investigation service is the new merged service that includes Council investigation teams & what was Compliance.

I think they also conduct both random reviews.
