Car keys - fiat punto
Hi all,
I have just bought a car (so excited) - but it only has one key.
How can I go about getting a spare made for it?
It's a bit of a banger and cheap and cheerful is the way I'm hoping to go - although I'm sure I could go to an official dealer and pay a fortune.
It's a Y reg Fiat Punto - with no technical looking buttons on the key itself.
Oh and can anyone recommend a good company to go to for roadside recovery. Having acknowledged it's a bit of a banger (new engine though) I thought it would be good idea.
Many thanks.

Does it have a transponder ?
That determines the costBe happy...;)0 -
Take the key to timpsons, and expect to pay about £30.
The key has a chip inside.
Fiats come with different coloured keys, without the correct colour master key, Fiat cannot supply a new one and program it to the car (or so they say....) so get a copy made.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Y reg would be a MK 2 Punto which does not have the 'master red key' system. It has a 'rolling' system where the code changes everytime you put the key in. BUT a spare key will have to be programmed to the ECU so the car will identify it otherwise it will be useless.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. Thanks for all the replies - I will have to be very careful not to loose it for now and will make my brother take me to a Fiat dealer.

Each car was issued with a unique 5 digit security code when originally supplied new. This was on a plastic card which should be passed from owner to owner. The code will be needed by the dealer when ordering replacement keys. Without the code I think the key has to be specially ordered which will be expensive.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only.
