Xbox 360 Hard Drive Help Please

Hello

OK I have a slim Xbox 360 that came with 2gb of internal memory, I think it was called the arcade edition or something, anyhow since getting it we have stored gameplay etc on the internal memory and also in the xbox storage "cloud", I am about to pre-order GTA V and have read online that the game comes on 2 discs and there is an install required to make it work, the total size of the install is around 8gb in size for which I have no room.

I could buy an actual Xbox hard drive off Ebay but was wondering if there was any other options for me such as external drives or even a USB flash drive?

Also what would happen if I simply did not have the room, would I spend £40 on the new game and then not be able to play it? I have not come across this before with any other games, or rather I am not aware of coming across it.

Advice, pearls of wisdom all welcome and thanks in advance ;)

I hadn't even realised that MS had sold Xboxes with no HDD
But to add one - see http://www.soyouwanna.com/can-add-hard-drive-xbox-360-arcade-24895.html
It appears to say that you simply format it and run it as normal
Any (up to 250Gb) HDD will do too ?
