Career Development Loan and Credit File

Hey all,

I'll try to keep this short, I'm trying to get a CDL and got offered a fully funded place at my uni so just need living costs.

When I moved into this property there were many issues with certain things such as my gas and leckie. They were overcharging badly and I went to EDF energy who took pennies from my account. Turns out the switch didn't work and I was with British Gas. I have since then got it under control and asked for meters based on the fact they were overcharging. Bills insta reduced to £40 for each a month even with repayments compared to the £90 they wanted for each a month, mental eh? These are both showing as settled with the leckie fine, but the gas with 6 payments late o_0 trying to sort this.

Then Orange had me in default for 5 years... unreal since i'm still with them and they were also overcharging. I just got this fixed as well as the rating... although some is inaccurate with late payments (statements to prove it) and they are going to sort this soon apparently.

HBOS credit card stated I had missed payments over 12 months. This has been recently resolved and awaiting it to be added to the file.

In summary from the viewers eye (based on my credit report) my last 12 months suck in terms of paying, which is funny cause i am not that far off being a debt free wanabie.

So questions, will I even have a chance for a Career development loan? Should I wait a few months till this is clear? I have already submitted notice of corrections to explain circumstances.

The most important Q: Would a covering letter explain this a bit further and encourage the lender? Or in summary am I pretty screwed?

Thank you in advance for any help and assistance ^^

The Banks are well within their rights to refuse you a CDL and this is normally down to someone who has struggled to repay their Debts/Bills on time and I'm afraid whether its only a few pounds or not you've proved that you are not very good candiate for any type of loan which will be seen in their credit checking.

Thank you for the input, however mostly all late payments have been removed and repaired. Heard back to day and several were subsequently updated :j. I can manage my credit as bills are paid on time, but there were mistakes on the file. Just a few to clear up. I think ill submit a cover letter anyway.
