Cap one Late Payment. Admistrative fault. Effect Credit Rating?

in Credit cards
Hi,
Probably been answered may times before.
Effectively I signed up for the 5% cashback credit card in mid july.
The first payment was due on Thursday 12 Sept. However today I noticed that no payment was applied to my account and noticed a late payment on the credit card statement. I then checked my bank account and saw that there were no funds taken out.
I contacted cap one customer services this evening and they apologised and said it was due to an administrative error. Even though i signed the direct debit mandate, it was never setup. therefore no payment taken out.
So obviously I paid in full and they refunded the late payment charge. My concern is, my credit rating is perfect (i.e several credit histories, full payments, no lates.. all greens... 5/5 according noodle). Now my concern is that due to an administrative error there end is this going to be automatically marked on my credit rating?. I have now cleared the complete balance of the card.
Kind Regards,

One 'black' mark should do no harm at all.
I doubt whether it will be reported if it is you can ask them to delete it.0 -
You'll need to check your credit report or ask cap 1 if they issued you a marker.0

Whilst it seems like Capital One have messed up, you would have been told (either in writing or verbally) at the time you set the DD up that until your statement said the payment would be collected by DD you should make the payment by other means.cdavies1960 wrote: »I contacted cap one customer services this evening and they apologised and said it was due to an administrative error. Did your statement carry the said message?
Something to bear in mind for the future?0 -

Actually I signed a direct debit mandate and was told over the phone at taking out the card that it would be full payment via direct debit. However they forgot to set it up and send the instruction to the bank.
They've assured me now that there will be no mention of this on my credit rating.0 -

That's not what Yorkshire Boy asked though. There's normally always a lag between setting up a direct debit and taking the first payment. Although if Capital One have said that it was administrative error on their part then obviously you are protected. I had a similar issue with Santander mid term and all was ok with my file - they said when they put the change/refund through it automatically updates, but worth checking your credit file at some point too.0
