JSA Direction

I see.
It sounds plausible somehow.
On the other hand is still a bit weird because even if there is a staff from the JC which by the way costs money to the JC because they even have to send their staff over there in order to check if the ones who got a direction are attending the event, how is it going to be organised? Are they really going to walkthrough the rooms (Though I do not even know if it is a room, an open space, more then one room etc.) with the list in their hands and ask everybody what is his/her name ?
:rotfl:
Yes I can see it being a waste of money, I've not received 1 of the letters myself and I've not even heard of the JC being involved with jobs fairs before.
Good luck.0 -
Has ever one of you attended such an event?
What does it look like?
And what does the staff of JC do? After checking the names of all participants :rotfl: they will also guide you throu the event?0 -
OP, it's an instruction - better to not speculate on whether you can get out of it, or whether they will find out. It's a job seeking activity, so it's a tick on your list next time you sign on. It's a couple of hours at most, so if nothing pans out from it, you have lost nothing - you are being "paid" to go. You can spend the rest of the week looking for jobs by your preferred method. And you never know, you might be surprised.... What is there to lose by doing it?0

You're getting a little a paranoid.
Go to the event, make best use of it, speak to employers/agencies/colleges, collect some information, see what happens.
JC are not telling you what to do at the event, you don't have to speak to JC staff who you may not even recognise, as Jobcentres often have so many staff on the gravy train.

Yes, I will have a look there. It might be even interesting. But surely I won't stay there from 9 to 4...7 hours:cool:?
Hopefully I will find my dream job there  - though I really doubt0 -

Your JC advisor has issued a Direction, maybe because of how long you have been unemployed, how your job search is going, how he sees you.
But he needs to cover his own job & make things happen.0 -
Of course you don't need to stay for 7 hours, maybe up to 1 hour.

Good points all. But especially the final one. It's easy to knock JC staff, but they do have jobs to do, many of them are in fixed term or temporary contacts, not as well paid as people think they are, and with no job security. Like a lot of other people, they do what they have to to keep their employment. The government set the rules and the targets, not them individually. And for all the genuine and decent people they see every day, they'll also see enough of the other kind to lose sight of the people they work with sometimes. The OP just needs to go with the flow. No point making life harder than it needs to be.0 -

I would ask for the job centre representative at the fair and make sure you take their full name for your own reference and proof.
Unfortunately the dwp wants to sanction everyone to get money out of you.My Signature is MY OWN!!0 -

Come off it, who are you trying to kid?
You can go around the proverbial houses all day long but it won't change the fact that JC workers do what they do because they choose to do so.
It's the same for any other employee in the UK. The "I'm just doing my job, guv" line is pure baloney.0
