JSA Direction

Good evening,
Yesterday I got a JSA direction from my agent.
I am supposed to attend an event (JOB FAIR).
I was wondering whether this event is an open event where everybody can just go or whether somebody is expecting me there with a list on which is also my name.
Please do not misunderstand me. I am neither lazy nor I want to do things against the rules of the Jobcenter but I am pretty sure that this thing is not going to help me find a job.
I would rather write good applications - what I have been doing all the time with the hope to find a job asap.
So, my question is, what if I do not attend that event?
Of course if one does not carry out the activity speicified in the direction has to report the reason to the Jobcenter.
But I was just wondering whether this event is something were sombody is going to check if I am there or is just an open event.
Many thanks

Some will have a JCP representative in attendance, some will not. Who has arranged the job fair?
If you don't go, you are setting yourself up for a sanction. You should go, you never know what you might find when you get there.0 -
You have been given an instruction - which is what a direction is - failure to appear won't be in your best interests! What I would say is this, how do you know it won't get you a job for sure? The answer to that is you don't, but the flip side is that you could put yourself in a good position by showing willingness to try anything.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

It's about this one:

I think is an open event to which everybody can go.0 -
The JCP are one of their partners - it is possible they will have representatives there.
More often than not you do not need to sign in at these events, but you are not in a position to take that chance, unless you can manage without your JSA payments.0 -
Just go, you have nothing to lose but a few hours by going, a lot to lose if you don't.0
-
Id go, do you really want to see what will happen if you dont attend ?
Cant do any harm surely.0 -
You are right. It is also not bad if I just go there..maybe it is even interesting.
I was just wondering whether there will really be somebody there who is going to ask every participants who they are, whether they are coming because of a JSA direction etc.:T It can't be true!
It can't be. Because everybody could just go there and have a look.0 -
The jobs fares I have attended only ever had jobs for commission only jobs and was a pointless exercise organised by the jobcentre.
OP I would go as there will be JC staff there with a list of names of those mandated to go.0 -

I understand what your saying, I would imagine there would be someone there to ask who the attendees are otherwise whats the point in the letters.0 -
I see.
It sounds plausible somehow.
On the other hand is still a bit weird because even if there is a staff from the JC which by the way costs money to the JC because they even have to send their staff over there in order to check if the ones who got a direction are attending the event, how is it going to be organised? Are they really going to walkthrough the rooms (Though I do not even know if it is a room, an open space, more then one room etc.) with the list in their hands and ask everybody what is his/her name ?
