Removing rear wheel

It came off the car with the drum still attached in 10mins.
I then made a drift 55.95mm diameter hit it 3 times cold with a sledge hammer no movement. Warmed it up, hit it 3 times and it was out.
Put it all back together with the same -cleaned and regreased- drum in another 10 mins.
Much easier than hitting it while still on the car. Which I had already tried on Saturday morning for an hour. What the ......Who the ......would fit a wheel like that??
If that is what has been done to a wheel, I dread to think what other bodge up jobs have been done to the rest of the car.
facade, I always put copper grease, and it always is long gone by the time the wheels are needed to be removed again, as I said, the corsa wheels are always a tight fit. Believe me, there was no danger of over boring the wheel.
forgotmyname, I used to own a Mitsu Colt. When I scrapped it, I kept a couple of the wheels as they are the same size as my corsa has and had new tread on them.0 -

You shouldn't use copper grease on aluminium, people do, but it makes things worse. Either plain grease, or an aluminium based anti-seize.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I'd be more concerned about getting the right offset. Vauxhall's usually need about 49 mm, and most other cars have 35 (ish). Handling will be weird if too far out.
That said I have 4 nearly perfect 14 inch nova Gsi wheels in my shed.
Do you want them ? 8 spokes and 2 sets of centre caps IIRC.
Tyres are dead though.0 -
You really should read what has been posted and then maybe you wouldn't post so much irrelevant crap!

facade,
Read it all again, Sherlock. You can blame me for not correcting you earlier if you like.
Prophet,
The mitsu wheels were on the rear, which is lucky because if they had gone on the front I would not have had it so easy to get them off. They were not illegal in that they did not protrude beyond the bodywork. That said they looked pretty damned similar when fitted. If you like, I have just measured the backspacing, (offset being virtually impossible to measure with tyres fitted). Mitsu 121mm, Vaux 129mm
Thanks for the offer but I'm happy with my steels.Unless you're local to me?
