The Christmas 2013 Food Stockpile Thread

Options
I started my Christmas stockpile today with nuts and soft drinks including a non-alcoholic punch, bought just before Holland & Barrett's Buy One Get One Half Price + Double Reward Points offer ended.

I was wondering whether anyone else has started their Christmas stockpile yet ?

What are you looking out for ? I'm looking out for the best deals on:
Kettle Chips
Twiglets
Branston
Hayward's Piccalilli
tinned wild salmon (red or pink)

  • Orange matchmakers. It ain't Christmas without these. And it's a stockpile that has to be continuously replenished as SOMEBODY keeps eating them...

    Xmas Saver!
I start by buying household items and toiletries. I just hate having to buy them with the Christmas shop.

    So far I have

    Toilet rolls
    Kitchen towels
    2 bottles of clothes softener.

All bought while on offer. :D
  • I bought half price orange matchmakers and bogof pringles with the shopping last week.
I will try and get one or two things each week now - depending on whats on offer.
I usually get biscuit / crisps / nuts / jars type things and store them in one of the kitchen cupboards that usually gets bits and bobs stored in the rest of the year.

Think I saw these for a pound in the co op about a week ago. Not sure if the offer's still on, but I see them quite often in poundland too.

My local Co-op branch are selling cartons of frozen damsons so I've bought some and a bottle of gin and will be making damson gin in the nest few days which will be ready for drinking by the time Christmas arrives.
  • My first present is one of those personalised razors from the freebies, my son will love it, not started on the food yet
Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool

  • I have had 4 jars of mincemeat (2 ordinary and 2 Taste the Difference with cassis) in my stockpile since January, when Sainsbury's were selling them off for next to nothing! Still in date till 2014 so they will be used for this year's mince pies!

A Christmas cake joined my stockpile this week - a M & S "second" (looked perfect to me!) courtesy of the discount food stall on Northallerton market. £2.50! Got one last year too and it was delicious. Not worth making my own when I can get a good one at that price.

Lots of other tins and packets in there but I daren't buy chocs and sweeties this early!!

Waitrose have Kettle Chips sharing bags 2 for £2 and I think Asda have the 5 bag multipack for £1. HTH xx

Home bargains also do reasonably priced kettle crisps and twiglets as well

Me. Im stockpiling nothing at the moment, I have enough food to last me for a while, theres only 3 of us in my family and my brother makes an appearance on Christmas Eve but he doesnt eat with us. I'll start to think about what bits and pieces I need probably at the beginning of December.

My mum and I tend just to get a takeaway as neither of us eat meat so sitting slaving over a roast dinner doesnt happen in our world.

I put some money into a virgin wines account every month and I'll buy a case of wine at the beginning of December, I rarely drink wine these days as Im dieting so I've given it up but I will make an exception at Christmas

I will be buying some kettle crisps at home bargains and a few other bits and pieces as well.

I usually buy a cheap bottle of champagne for Hogmanay as I dont go out then, tend to have my nights out before Christmas or the week between Christmas and New Year, the days of freezing my backside off in the street are long gone.

Fortunately I live in a town that has a B and M, a home bargains, poundland, the next town has a poundworld and a wilkinsons so theres plenty of bargains to be had.

Home bargains also sell a carton of pomegranate juice for half the price or less than H and B sell it.

Asda also do own brand crisps that are very similar to kettle, they are a quid for a big bag.
