I need to get a gift each for two relatives who are in their early 80's. Both live alone and aren't really in need of anything!
Any ideas would be gratefully received! My budget is around £20 each.
thanks in advance.

A magazine subscription might be nice, maybe to one of the magazines that might appeal, e.g. Yours (I think) or People's Friend or something similar. I am almost 62 and love my magazines dropping through the letter box each month.0

Hamper, or if they struggle to get out take them out for a nice meal/day out.0

Our relatives hate gifts and get harder to buy for the older they get.
I've now given up and just get the kids to make them a home made food hamper, biscuits, fudge and jam etc. This always goes down well along with a handmade card.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
I have just had some cupcakes delivered as a gift for a 87 year old relative and she was thrilled.
I had a look online and found a local company who did deliveries for a small charge.
He sent me a text to confirm delivery and a picture of the box of cakes. I would definately use the company again and the relative said it was a lovely change from flowers/plants.
Hope that helps

Every year I get my Gran (93) a calender, usually this one http://www.calendarclub.co.uk/p-698-garden-days-by-judith-glover-planner-2014-week-to-view.aspx
She's a little 'absent minded' so everything is written on it, when anyone visits they have to sign in on it!!! and she finds it more useful than a diary which she'd misplace.0 -

I would second taking them out for the day for lunch or coffee if they are local. My nan is 83 and she would love to do that. I am pretty much the only grandchild who visits her and I know she is really lonely sometimes. In fact even though my nan is over 100 miles away I think I will do that when I am next down. Hope you think of something suitable.Fashion on a ration 0 of 660

My sister once gave my -then well into her nineties-Nan, a floating willie bath plug one year. It caused great hilarity in the home she was in, when the carers used it whenever anyone had a bath.0
