    @OP

Rooster is an American term. Do you mean cockerels (that crow rather noisily at anti-social times of the morning) or do you mean chickens (that just cluck a bit)?

Thank you everyone for all the advice.

I think I'll try to write a letter and send it to the council, maybe that will help.

As I said earlier, I really don't want to get into arguments, courts, debates, involve other people or something similar; the reason for this is because I know the situation is frustrating and to some extent I am confident that I'm right and they should stop this behaviour(e.g having farm animals in a home).

I know that if I get into debate or anything else, it will make things worse. Right now, we don't talk to them, we keep to ourselves.I have problems with their kids from time to time as they harass my brother but again I can't really do much as they're kids and maybe my brother is doing something wrong, although he states the opposite.

I can cope with the other things, telling my brother to stay away from them; I can even cope with the swearing, which eventually stops but what irritates me a lot is this rooster( I called it rooster because I didn't want to use the word !!!!, people would have misunderstood me, I typed "!!!! synonyme" in google and you don't want to know what I got lol), that every morning makes this noise (like a punctual alarm clock without the dismiss button)

My idea was to send a letter, if it was possible to do it anonymously, telling the council or someone who deals with these sort of situations, and tell them about the situation, asking them to investigate and hope that it turns in my favour as I don't really see how having a rooster in the house, that makes all this noise, is admissible.
  • if they were next door to me i'd be having a nice sunday roast
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

Its perfactly normal to keep chickens in a domestic environment usually for the eggs. Many thousands of people do it Youre on a hiding to nothing unless you have problems with crowing which is noise pollution of course..

Yes that will be the PITA and its the noise you need to concentrate on if you are going to complain. My MIL's next door neighbour has two c o c k (erell)s to go with his umpteen chickens. Type it out in full or put spaces between the letters then the filter doesn't convert it. Anyway everybody around there is used to the crowing at o' crack sparrow and also during the day. Once you are used to it you filter it out.

    Cheers

Definitely talk to the council - you can phone them up and ask for advice - it would be completely off the record and you could find out exactly what they can look into and what they can't.
In my experience swearing does affect the issue - my council did consider hearing offensive language more serious than just generic noise.
They'll almost certainly ask for a diary so you may as well start making notes now. My council issued diary sheets included a section for writing how the noise was affecting you, so it's worth jotting that as well as just dates and times.
Definitely don't be put off dealing with the issue for fear of declaring things when you sell. The council can be very good at getting these kind of things sorted and it's crazy to put up with a nasty situation when there are ways to make it better.

I'm sorry that the most annoying thing for you is the animals. However you may be on dodgy ground here. If they have a cockeral then you may have grounds to have them remove him. If they are just chickens (which will cluck for around a minute after they have laid an egg to announce the fact).and so your neighbours are perfectly entitled to keep them, Rabbits too are fine. The below passage is from the 1950 allotments act and covers all land not just allotments.

2 Abolition of contractual restrictions on keeping hens and rabbits.(1)Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary in any lease or tenancy or in any covenant, contract or undertaking relating to the use to be made of any land, it shall be lawful for the occupier of any land to keep, otherwise than by way of trade or business, hens or rabbits in any place on the land and to erect or place and maintain such buildings or structures on the land as reasonably necessary for that purpose:
Provided that nothing in this subsection shall authorise any hens or rabbits to be kept in such a place or in such a manner as to be prejudicial to health or a nuisance or affect the operation of any enactment.

You don't say how small the garden is, but chooks don't need that much room, have the neighbours got them in a coop with a run?

If you forge a good relationship with them, they may give you some free eggs.

  • I don't think these are chickens and I don't have problem with the animals, otherwise I'd have made a complain about their rabbit too in here; but I didn't even know they had a rabbit till I seen their back garden from my windows and noticed a rabbit a 3-4 cockerel; there might be chickens but the noise I hear it's definitely not from chickens as it's too loud and every single morning and through out the day.

I'd say that garden isn't small, it does have enough space, they even have a small storage house in it.

Filtering the noise isn't that easy. It takes me a lot of time to sleep as I seem to have sleeping issues but this noise only aggravates it. I was used to keep my windows open to have some air but stopped that as in the morning the noise was just too loud. Keeping the window closed didn't help and had to put ear plugs. The noise is reduced now but I can still hear it and it does wake me up.

The second and most annoying thing is that they have a small back garden and they've decided to put some rabbits and roosters, which make a lot of noise throughout the day and especially in the morning while we are all sleeping.Their back garden has become very dirty and disgusting as well because of these animals, it looks like a small farm.

You've just contradicted yourself (from your first post)

Do they have a small back garden or not? Do you have a problem with the animals or don't you?

The garden it's not that small but I think it's small for 3-4 cockerel and a rabbit. I don't how to define whether is small or big but I'd say that you can fit 2 cars easily.
I don't have any problem with animals, I only have problem with the noise made by those cockerel

You've contradicted yourself again so I'm not sure what your real issue is.

Can't help you further - sorry.
