cheapest flu jab?
I think I saw leaflets in tesco doing it for £8.
Asda & Morrisons will be £7, plus they both get them sooner than tesco.

my doctors do it for free.

I knew someone would post this.
I started this for those of us who have to pay.
  • If you "have to pay" you probably don't need it. ;)

That was my thought also. OP, have you checked with your GP that you do not qualify? Many people do.

Thanks for prompting me about the flu jab, MrsE.:)

I'm one of those who 'probably doesn't need it' so has to pay for the flu jab every year.

I usually get mine at Superdrug, because the price is good and the customer service is excellent.

So why do I bother if 'I probably don't need it'......you may be wondering?

Well, it's because I have had flu in the past. I don't mean a heavy cold where you feel rotten for a day or two. I had real flu, which meant I struggled to lift my head off the pillow. Getting out of bed (to go to the toilet) was a massive effort. I was shocked at how poorly I felt, how exhausted I was if I tried to move. If you've made it into work, you didn't have flu.;)

Having had real flu once in my life, I'm determined to avoid flu ever again.

I probably don't need it and my GP wouldn't give me a free flu jab..............but I will have the flu jab every year. I am delighted that the flu jab has protected me from flu for the last few years.

It is worth every penny of the ~£9 I pay.

I pay for mine, £7 at Asda Pharmacy. I don't qualify for a free jab as I don't have any medical issues. I do, however, work 4 days a week with a baby and 1 and a half days a week with very elderly people. I obviously don't want 'flu myself but I certainly wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I passed it on to any of my vulnerable charges. To me £7, and 10 minutes of my time, is a small price to pay for peace of mind. And before someone starts, yes I do realise that new strains are developing all the time and I could still contract 'flu, but I'd rather do something than nothing.

I used to get the flu jab via work until they decided that we were not 'at risk'. As I work facing the public and in their homes, I pay for the jab, both to protect myself and those I work with.

I've also had flu before and like Nile, don't care to repeat the experience.

Some GPs will provide them for people who don't ordinarily qualify. eg when I used to commute 60 miles by train each way for work, my then GP decided flu jabs would save the whole system money.

Like others in this thread, I don't ever want to have flu again. Those years I've not bothered I've almost always had cause to regret it.

I had 'flu at the end of last year. I have never felt so ill in my life. It was about three weeks before I could function and in fact several months before I felt properly well. This year I am happy to pay to prevent the same thing happening again.

One question, who administers the jab? Do you pay for it and then take it to your surgery?
