I had 'flu at the end of last year. I have never felt so ill in my life. It was about three weeks before I could function and in fact several months before I felt properly well. This year I am happy to pay to prevent the same thing happening again.

One question, who administers the jab? Do you pay for it and then take it to your surgery?

At our Asda you pay when you book, they give you an appointment then the pharmacist does the jab in the consultation room at the pharmacy in Asda. There's a little bit of paperwork but I'm in and out in about 10 mins.

The pharmacist does it, they have a little side room or cubical. Takes 5 mins then you can get your shopping:T

    I don't qualify.
I choose to get it I don't want a week off work if I can avoid it.

When was the last time you actually had the flu? I think I've had it probably once in my entire life and I'm one of the ones that qualifies for a free flu jab but I've never had one of those either. In fact I rarely even suffer with colds ;)

I think there's an awful lot of over vaccination going on. Big Pharma must love this time of year!

Think yourself very fortunate. In the last five years I've had flu twice and swine flu. It really is one of the most debilitating feelings ever and I've always been careful since not to confuse a cold with flu, no matter how wretched the cold is making me feel, (like now:(.) I've a chest condition which means I don't pay, but I'd probably pay for one if necessary. Just to reduce a period of sickness by one day would make it worthwhile.

Well, I'm not sure it's all down to good fortune, more likely a result of good hygiene practice and healthy living. My son had swine flu a few years ago so I know how debilitating it is. I nursed him through it. I didn't contract it myself though.

If everybody followed good hygiene protocols, the incidence of flu would diminish significantly.
