Grrr - Supporting Alms

Supporting Alms collect unwanted household goods and clothes to sell to people in the third world. They put bags through your letter box for you to donate stuff.

This morning my letter box banged at 5.40am, and my dogs barked and everyone woke up. As hubby had already left for work, I nervously went downstairs to investigate, and found one of their collection bags on the doormat.

Why on earth do they have to deliver bags at that time of the morning, causing a disturbance to people sleeping?

Not happy as I've got a new born baby, so sleep is the most precious thing I can get at the moment.
Here I go again on my own....

Because they get volunteers to deliver it who can only do it before going to work?

It's not a charity as there is no charity number on the bag. It's one of these companies who's bags look like charity bags, but they sell your stuff on. Don't know if they would have volunteers delivering the bags?

Anyway that aside, my rant was about people causing a distubance by putting unwanted stuff through the letter box at 5.40am. It's just too early IMO!

I'm with you on that one becles, my letter box makes one heck of a rattle when anything is pushed through and I hate it when these things are delivered at silly o'clock.

Another thing that annoys me about these bag collections is when you fill a bag up for them (although I only do it for charities I've heard of, none of these company ones) leave the bag out on the day they say they are coming to collect and then they don't bother coming to collect. Scope were the worst for that round here. The best ime are the great north air ambulance, they ALWAYS collect so I usually do my clear outs when they push a bag through as I know I'm not wasting my time :)

I am very sceptical about these collections. I would rather deliver in person to charity shop or give to twice yearly Scout jumble. Early delivery time rather unacceptable.
