Getting ad.yieldmanager.com when on yahoo homepage.

Options
Hi,

I keep getting this popup similar when you save a file mainly on yahoo homepage.

Running windows 7 it comes up at bottom of screen just as when you save a file and has the following message

"Do you want to open or save get-user-id.js from ad.yieldmanager.com?"

Obviously I don't let it proceed. I have done scans with malwarebytes, avast, spybot , Superantispyware but nothing of any significance.

Anyone got an idea and if it affects you when on yahoo as well.

Thanks a lot
Martin57

Just done this on another forum. Mixidj was the culprit by the looks of things.

    Adwcleaner as above. Tutorial: http://general-changelog-team.fr/en/tutorials/44-english/tutorials/software/313-how-to-use-adwcleaner-version-3-x
  • Thanks for replies. Seems to be only happening on the yahoo home page. I have downloaded AWDcleaner and it seems to have found a few things.

Can't see any option to update the above program though to get the latest database.

But if it works that's fine. Thanks for link.

It's essentially a standalone executable. The database is current. It will prompt to download a new version when you run it if one is available.

Post the contents of the log.

    You'll find it at C:\adwcleaner\adwcleaner[R**].txt

Thanks a lot for reply again.

Well I had actually ran it and deleted the stuff but as the program had quarantined the stuff and thee seemed to be no way to delete it there other than to totally uninstall the program that is what I did.

I have this for a few months now but if my memory serves me right only happens on yahoo home page.

I have changed my ie home page now to the bbc/news as that was main reason I was on yahoo anyways.

Thanks a lot for giving me name of that program.

Ah sorry got the log where you stated.

    have the ads stopped?
  • Well no ads since, but I am taking no chances, I'ive changed my home page from yahoo, as I do feel that somehow the ads on that page were behind the popups.

Thanks for your help its a good program to have ADWcleaner.

Yield Manager is part of Yahoo!'s advertising arm, so if it's specific to Yahoo pages then I'd say it's yahoo's problem rather than malware.

You might look to blocking yieldmanager.com through your hosts file.
